This is an update for all members of Rother District Council, Town and Parish councils and local MPs.

Rother and Hastings move to Tier 3

Government have announced that Rother and Hastings will move to Tier 3: Very high alert from midnight on Friday 18 December.

Under Tier three you must:

  • Follow the specific rules in your local area
  • Not mix with other households indoors
  • Only meet people outdoors in open public spaces in groups of up to six
  • Avoid travel, unless it's essential
Some businesses and venues will be expected to close. You can check which tier you are in and see what the restrictions are at GOV.UK.

For information about the latest restrictions in British Sign Language visit Sign Health, for their #2MinuteUpdates which give an overview of the restrictions for each tier.

Our services

The majority of our services will be unaffected by tier three restrictions.

  • leisure and sports facilities may continue to stay open, but group exercise classes (including fitness and dance) should not go ahead.
  • recycling and waste centres, car parks, and public toilets may continue to stay open
  • community centres and halls, and libraries can remain open

Financial support for businesses

Grants will be available to support businesses affected by these restrictions and we will update the Information for Businesses on our website with more details as soon as we can (likely to be week beginning 21 December). Please keep an eye on our website or on Facebook or Twitter for updates.

No one left alone

This year has left many people feeling isolated and lonely so please do call or write to anyone you know who is on their own.

Anyone who needs help that can’t look to family or friends for support can get in touch with the Community Hub.

The Community Hubs will have reduced opening hours over the Christmas period, between 23 December and 4 January. You can still get in touch using the usual Hub contact details, but if you have any issues getting through, or any urgent concerns, please instead contact Health and Social Care Connect for support:

Phone: 0345 60 80 191 (open 8am to 8pm 7 days a week including bank holidays)
Email: Health and Social Care Connect
