Where did the summer go? As many of you know, I’m a retired Elementary School Teacher. Late August and early September were always filled with back-to-school preparations and nervous anticipation. In my role as Executive Director of Gaslight Community Theatre Productions, the routine is very similar. There are so many things to do, people to rally, phone calls to make, emails to send… and the time flies by quickly. Sometimes my head is literally spinning.
We have certainly faced our challenges over the past few years. When I took on this role in 2019 – Covid arrived, and our 2020 Tour was regrettably (but responsibly) cancelled.
In 2021, we performed Cemetery Stories outdoors at the First Presbyterian Cemetery. We literally ran this tour on a ZERO budget. We had no money! Our ticket sales always support our tours and without ticket sales from 2020, we found ourselves in a tough spot. Monthly operational costs (insurance, storage, website, etc.) had drained our bank account, leaving us with negligible funds.
Here we are in 2022 - and we are feeling somewhat better, financially. We are continuing our efforts to gather donors and sponsors. Susan Brindisi and Andja Martynuik have taken over the role of Sponsorship Development. This is a role that was formerly held by Monica Wilson.
