Modernisation of CLZ's Education Programme

This month, CLZ signed a grant partnership with the Civil Society Environmental Fund supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Finland. The ceremony was attended by a number of grant winners from all over Zambia and was an opportunity for us to learn more of the environmental projects around the country. The grant from CSEF II  will support the modernisation of CLZ's  Environmental Education Programme through the implementation of education tablets that will contain lessons and activities drawn from CLZ's education curriculum, as well as support to the programme's core activities and extending the traditional 3-day school visits to 4 days.

A New Vehicle for the DNPW Lower Zambezi Dog Unit

The new vehicle for the dog unit has arrived! Following a very generous loan of a temporary vehicle from BioCarbon Partners, the new vehicle was handed over in Lusaka on the 12th January with members of the CLZ board, the Dog Unit and BCP's Chief of Party. The unit will use the modified vehicle to travel around the Lower Zambezi Area Management Unit on operations to combat wildlife crime.

We recognise the support of the American People through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for providing funding for the vehicle through the USAID funded Community Forests Program implemented by BCP.

Welcome, Ohenda!
In January, Ohenda Kanguya joined us at CLZ as the new Base Camp Manager. Ohenda, originally from Lusaka, studied Environmental Education at the University of Zambia and brings with her not only a passion for conservation, but also for making our base camp operations efficient! We are very excited to welcome her to the team.
