Watch out, kids! MoreEats, Liechtenstein’s music magician of all trades, is coming to a stage very near you. Yes, he is the guy who recently brought you the mesmerising airport romance “Waiting On My Baby” – check it out on YouTube. What started off as this extremely talented, weird, curly-haired and bespectacled teenager from the Walser village of Triesenberg singing his Antifolk oddities and accompanying himself on his ukulele, has long turned into something quite different and very unique that defies description. The music MoreEats has been creating in recent months is cheesy, yes, but in a very good, Dennis Wilson kind of way. Groovy, funky – those somewhat dated seventies adjectives come to mind when one hears MoreEats strangely timeless Soul music (is that what it is? Soul?). Tender, dreamy, creamy, and rich – the lush sexy sweetness never ends in these songs lovingly constructed from an abundance of thick layers of guitar, keyboards and silly sounds, using all sorts of black boxes and gizmos and lots of reverb. The result is extremely laid back, relaxed and positive, just like a day spent on a Caribbean beach with someone you love and who loves you back, getting a tan, sipping on long drinks with whacky names and doing whatever it is people do on beaches. MoreEats’ amazing musicianship and songwriting talent combine with a quirky humour which enables MoreEats to write fun, funnily schmaltzy and yet heartfelt lyrics with ease. “Start kissing my lips, make out with my brain.” Yes, please! MoreEats’ tour coincides with the release of his new album, Quality Time (out on Big Cinema on 3 October), MoreEats’ latest musical statement that embodies perfectly everything that’s so good about this guy.
“MoreEats sounds the way his hair looks.” -Stanley Brinks
With a little help from pizza and Berliner Rundfunk, Tendre Biche emerged in the summer of 2015. The four-piece loves vocal harmonies and entrancing melodies as much as rumbling rhythms and vibrant guitars. Pop music for people who like a lot more than pop music.
