OVERFISHED OCEAN STRATEGY
My dear all,

Spring is finally here!

I am writing these words as the early morning hours wake up sleepy Ohio and the sun is just about to break in. This is how spring always feels to me: breaking in, breaking through. Renewing, re-starting, re-imagining. So, this newsletter simply must be dedicated to creating new things.

Yesterday at the family dinner, we talked about all the heartbreaking stories of the past month. Wherever we look, it seems that tragedy and sadness are just around the corner. Yet, even in the worst of our times, we have a chance to create something new. Sometimes it is a grand solution. Sometimes it is just a few words crafted with real care and humanity. We are all creators every second of every day.

So, I hope that the creations and tools in this newsletter will inspire you to create something good today.

Send you my warmest wishes,
Nadya

P.S. I am just about to give my third TEDx talk, and I am terrified out of my mind. Public speaking is still beyond challenging. But the message and sharing the ideas that matter still carry me through. Here is what my message is this time.

P.P.S. All of us seem to agree: we have to re-imagine and re-create our eduction system. Finland recently did just that. No more "subjects?" I am loving it!
Overfished Ocean Strategy in Action
Examples of successful navigation through overfished oceans
Is there a way to address water shortage beautifully? Absolutely!! This stunning water faucet is created to use 15% less water by spinning water in two separate streams. The vision of Simin Qiu, faucet creator and student at Royal College of Art, whose Swirl concept won an IF Design Award last year, makes total sense: "It's true that some people do not care about water usage at all. What I focus on is saving water without compromising aesthetics. It's possible to save water and perfect aesthetics at the same time."
Turn any window or sheet of glass (like your smartphone’s screen) into a photovoltaic solar cell! A fully transparent solar cell that could make simple glass a power source. It is really transparent and can be efficiently deployed in a wide range of settings, from tall buildings with lots of windows or any kind of mobile device like a phone or e-reader. Well, that is one creative possibility!
Ever wish you could ditch your electric bill? The ever innovative Tesla Company is creating a house battery that could help you break up with your expensive utility company, essentially turning any home into an energy generator. Before you know it, your home could even make enough energy to turn a profit by selling the excess back to a traditional electric company!
Building Your Toolbox
The hub of practical tools for resource-intelligent innovation
Want to do things more creatively and collaboratively? Hyper Island Toolbox is a resource kit, a collection of methods and activities for anyone who wants to apply creative collaboration in their organization. Energizers, actions, self-leadership, for smaller or larger groups, short or over two hours, plenty to choose from.
Bill Gates himself has said that creativity is less of an individual characteristic than it is an "emergent property" that surfaces when people convene around a problem. By 2020, Millennials will make up 50 percent of the workforce. The next infographic shows how creative and collaborative workplaces, the team, not the individual contributor is the new secret for business success.
People are creative, come up with new ideas and change the status-quo. But if you haven't seen your creativity for a while, smile and check these these 6 best tools for creative work, according to science and Fast Company.

And as always, don't foget to laugh...!
