Access-Austin Update & Meeting

Access-Austin, our adult vocational program made possible by a grant from City of Austin, is proud to have some of our first clients find employment, and we are now able to bring more folks into the program. Access-Austin is a personalized employment program for adults (18 & over). In our program we have the ability to work on everything from the beginning of the job search to mock interviews, and even some support at a new place of employment. We take a lot of pride in getting to know each of our clients in order to figure out what direction they want to go. With 9 out of 10 adults with autism either under employed or not employed at all we know the need for this program is vast, but we are ready to change that statistic! If you are interested in this program we encourage you to come to our meeting on February 23.

Austin Marathon, 2/19/17: Match from Moody Foundation!

The Austin Marathon is this Sunday, 2/19/17! We need a few more volunteers during the later shift to help at our aid station! Know someone running? Please donate to them or to our organization! The Moody Foundation will match every donation made to all charities, up to $10,000. All details here.

Texas Autism Bike Ride & Fun Run: Early Bird Discount!

Show the Autism Society of Texas some love by registering for the Texas Autism Bike Ride & Fun Run! The "Early Bird Discount" has been extended until 2/28/17! This is a fun, family-friendly bike ride, or 5K Fun Run (or walk) at Georgetown High School on 4/2/17. Details here.

Advocacy Updates!

We are excited to be part of a coalition of Texas disability nonprofits, parent advocates, and partners, in the newly created Texans for Special Education Reform. Please "like" the Facebook page & check out the action items.
National Advocacy: This week Jacquie is in Washington D.C. at the Autism Society of America's "Day on the Hill" Conference. Read about that and about Texans for Special Education Reform in the February edition of "Advocacy News".

Please join our advocacy list to be informed about events at the Capitol or legislation that we need assistance on as well as advocacy training opportunities.
