Post-Worship on September 14th
Knox Room

What if you looked at creation from the perspective of another being, maybe a bear, a tree, or a mountain? The Creation Care Team invites you to a Council of All Beings, a reflective conversation on the interconnectedness of all creation, following worship in the Knox Room. Enlightening and interactive!

to create delicious sundaes to celebrate the beginning of a
new year at Knox!

Free-will offering accepted.
Sunday School Needs You!

Our Sunday School is filled with wonderful children who want to develop their faith in God and they need leaders to help support this process. When our teachers are away, we need folks who are willing to step in and lead a lesson/discussion.

Our preschool/nursery children are also growing in number and we are in great need for more people to help out with this age group.

Vulnerable Sector Police Checks are required.

Please contact Carole if you are interested in being a part of this amazing ministry!

LIBRARY
The Season of Creation this September is a good time to focus on the climate and environmental crisis, and on how we can enjoy and care for Creation. Our collection includes both books for adults and picture books for children. Check out the library cart and the display shelves for a selection of titles. Here's one:

Hope Matters: Why Changing the Way We Think is Critical to Solving the Environmental Crisis
by Elin Kelsey
(Note: the author is Janice Harper's sister.)

"Elin's book reminds us that despite these challenging times, there are reasons for hope. And it turns out - hope matters. A lot."

MINISTRY ACTIVITIES
Annual Friendship Dinner
Saturday, October 25, 2025
5 -9 pm Bingemans Marshall Hall

Knox has a long history of supporting House of Friendship, a Waterloo Region-based nonprofit organization that provides food, housing, addiction treatment and neighbourhood support to individuals and families, helping more than 42,000 individuals each year.

This year's annual dinner will honour CEO John Neufeld’s legacy of innovation, celebrate 86 years of House of Friendship's service, and look ahead with hope as we continue responding to the challenges in our community.

Tickets are $125 each, but if we get enough early response we can book a full table and get a modest discount to approx $110-$112.50.

Please email Sharon Feldmann asap to commit to attending. With enough EARLY INTEREST we’ll buy a table and pass on the discounts. If we aren’t able to commit to a table by mid September, we’ll connect with you and ask you to purchase your tickets directly from House of Friendship’s website.

The Knox Bible Study meets regularly on the first Tuesday of every month (Oct 7, Nov 4, Dec 2). We hope you will join us in our discussions.

Knox has a growing community of Young Adults, including many post-secondary students, connected with our various ministries. We are so grateful and want to keep nurturing the growth and relationships.

This Fall there will be a Young Adult Gathering monthly on Sundays after church from 11:30am to 1:30pm for a time of connection, food, and theological conversation on various topics.

We are inviting congregants to sign up to prepare part of the lunch for the Young Adult Gatherings (10-15 people).

Each month there is an option to sign up to provide a main (soup, sandwiches, casserole, etc), side (veggies/salad/fruit), or snack/dessert (chips, cookies, brownies, etc).

The Young Adult Gatherings are scheduled this Fall are on the following dates:
  • September 28th
  • October 19th
  • November 9th
  • December 7th

Lunch items can be dropped off by Sunday at 11 am in the church kitchen (labelled and placed on the back counter or in the fridge).

Supporting Our Students
Knox is blessed to have about 25 postsecondary students. In September they will be heading back -- or maybe going for the first time! -- to classes at college or university. There will be feelings of excitement and anticipation, but maybe, also, feelings of apprehension. Please remember these young people in your prayers.
The student contact ministry consists of a small team of people who send the occasional note to our undergrads to encourage them and to let them know that their Knox family is thinking of them.

If you know a student who would appreciate encouragement from their Knox family, please send their name and contact details to Femmy. Your support can make a real difference in their journey.

FINAL THOUGHT...
"The age-old omnipotent God is slowly dying in the human imagination.
To think of God as love is radically different.
Love can only act in the world through the relative weakness of human beings.
Singly, each of us can do little.
United, we can accomplish much if selfless love, compassion, and justice is our collective guide."
