"He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him."

Psalm 40:3

At Su Refugio in Paraguay, our music project is impacting many children in Tobatí. What started out a few years ago singing with some kids once a week, has been growing steadily.  Now there are more than 30 guitar and piano students, with rapidly growing interest in other instruments as well. We praise the Lord for Marco Klaue! His God-given talents and his investment of time in the children of Su Refugio are having a huge impact!

Marco grew up in Ecuador. His parents were missionaries and music enthusiasts which meant that music was always a part of his family and church life. He studied music at Trinity Western University in Langley, BC (Canada) and earned a Bachelor of Arts.  He did not work in music professionally, but remained in music ministry quite consistently over the years. Several years ago, the Lord moved him next door to Analia, Su Refugio Paraguay's Director of Development. With her encouragement, Marco began to volunteer each weekend through our Saturday Children's Care Center program teaching beginning music lessons to the children.

Marco explains how music has impacted his own walk with the Lord, "I would say that music has often been there for me when other reassurances weren't.  When I lacked faith or was afraid, I was often helped by remembering a hymn..." He hopes to bring that same source of comfort to the abused and abandoned children in our Children's home and also to the children in the surrounding barrios.

Miguel, one of our foster parents at Su Refugio, pointed out recently that he sees "the children use the guitar for therapy without even knowing it... when they're frustrated or discouraged they go to their room, pick up the instrument and play around for a bit."
How great is our God to bring new songs into the lives of these precious ones!

Would you join us in prayer? Because interest in the program is spreading, there are now so many people asking for music lessons! What started as a volunteer side project is rapidly becoming a full-time job for which Marco will need more assistants/volunteers. If you feel the Lord leading you to support these efforts financially or if you are considering a short or long-term intern position to help teach music, please see the link below.

Also, please scroll to the bottom of the newsletter to listen to our beginning and advanced students. You will be blessed!

Here are some of our beginning musicians. Most do not own a personal instrument. We provide them with "loaners." Our dream is to give instruments to those most dedicated to learning.
