Membership Referral Program

The best way to promote your business is to get your customers to spread the "good word." The same applies to our Chamber!

We get a buzz when new members join the Chamber after being referred by our existing members.

To thank you for your support, we have a referral program in place that rewards you for the great work you are doing!

Submissions Open - Proposed Waste to Energy Plant

Proposed Waste to Energy Plant

An application was received to build a waste to energy plant at 401 Racecourse Road, Te Awamutu. The proposed plant will incinerate 150,000 tonnes of rubbish annually which will be used to generate electric power.

Following a request by Waikato Regional Council and Waipā District Council, the Minister for the Environment has directed that the decision making on the resource consent applications be referred to a Board of Inquiry, due to it being considered an issue of ‘national significance’.

The Board has until early August 2025 to consider submissions, hold a hearing and issue its decision.

All previous submissions made to the Councils will be considered by the Board of Inquiry – they do not need to be re-lodged and all previous requests to speak at the hearing will be taken on board.

Submissions via the Environmental Protection Authority

Anyone who wishes to make a new or further submission has until 5pm Wednesday, 18 December to do so, but they must do this via the Environmental Protection Authority.

You can make a submission using the authority’s secure online submission form.
You can also submit by email or post - for the relevant forms and more information, please visit the authority’s submission information webpage.
