August 2020

WGC Donors and Friends,

August has been a wonderful month to celebrate women! We started the month hosting WGC's "Our Giving, Our Stories!" Virtual Happy Hour where we celebrated women's giving in our county.

And, we've been celebrating each day since with WGC’s “Our Giving, Our Stories!” Daily Profile Series throughout August, where we have profiled 31 women in celebration of Black Philanthropy Month. I hope you've been following along on our social media pages and our website and reading about these inspirational philanthropists in our community!

Finally, this week we celebrated every woman who has fought, and those who are still fighting, to advance ALL women as we carry on the battle for equality on Women's Equality Day. Collective giving is one way that we are positively impacting women and girls in our community as we strive for equality. So many women philanthropists to celebrate, for so many reasons - thanks for joining us!

Would you like to learn more about the WGC? Join us for a brief, but interactive Membership Monday chat on September 21 at 8:30 am. Once each month we are now hosting a Membership Monday 30-minute Zoom chat, where you can meet members of the WGC’s Advisory Board, hear about the WGC, how you might get involved, and have a chance to ask questions. We look forward to meeting you – register today and join us!

Warm regards,

Barb Van Winkle

WGC's "Our Giving, Our Stories!" Daily Profiles

We've been celebrating Black Philanthropy Month with WGC’s “Our Giving, Our Stories!”  Profile Series daily throughout August. We have enjoyed highlighting these inspirational stories of women in our community who discuss what moves them to give their time, talent and financial resources, when they started giving to issues that are important to them, and what advice they have for those interested in giving back. Follow the WGC on social media and be sure to check our website daily to learn more about these inspirational philanthropists!

This year, we celebrate every woman who has fought, and those who are still fighting, to advance ALL women as we carry on the battle for equality. We must stay the course.

WGC Grants Update: Emergency Response Network

Thanks to everyone who took action this week and donated to help a woman in need in our community through our partners at Grassroots. In less than an hour we collectively raised over $1,000. In the 15+ years we've had the Emergency Response Network you have collectively met and/or exceed every single request, resulting in over $100,000 to directly support 100+ women and their families. Thank you for being a part of this powerful network supporting women in our community!
