"God is inside you and inside everybody else. You come into the world with God. But only them that search for it (God) inside find it (God). And sometimes it (God) just manifest itself even if you not looking, or don't know what you are looking for... It (God) always making little surprises and springing them on us when us least expect."
- Alice Walker, The Color Purple

In this issue of Imagine!, we focus on
Who is God? (your own understanding of God)

I pray it will encourage, support and challenge you

Sometimes we become attached to people and things. Instead of relating with them as resources for love and companionship, challenge and healing, comfort and growth, we relate with them as if they were the Source of our wellbeing and our existence.

When we conflate and confuse the resources in our lives with the Source of our lives, as if they are the same thing, we become likely to make choices that are directed by our anxiety and fear rather than guided by love and trust. When you make choices, are they directed by fear/anxiety or love/trust?
- Dr. Cari

to proclaim and manifest what you fully desire for your life.
In the midst of all that is swirling around us in our personal lives (our families, health, finances, jobs, schools, spiritual communities, and more) and all that is erupting in the world, it takes a village to help us experience a measure of emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing. That is why I send out this newsletter, share stories of overcoming, and offer small group programs and workshops.
I was so honored recently when a workshop participant said to me, "I can tell you really care about people." I was moved to tears and action by these words. I really do care about and love people -- even those who make it difficult for me to do so. Over the next few months, you will see more opportunities presented in Imagine! for you to be part of an expanding village of people who are ready to acknowledge and heal their pain. A global village of people who are ready to experience the quality of purpose, connection, peace and joy that make life worth living, and celebrating, and inspiring future generations.

My vision is to provide programs, services, and experiences that are rooted in a practical spirituality transforming daily living.
Thank you for reading Imagine! Let us know any ways we can support you in your journey or how you would like to support others in their journeys. Peace and Love
to you, Dr. Cari

Who is Your God?

Carson Hawks and Dr. Cari Jackson share their personal stories about
how experiences with parents shape the images and constructs about God.

My first awareness of God, that was different than the God I was taught in my youth, came while I was in Seminary. We were reading an excerpt from The Color Purple by Alice Walker:
"God ain't a he or a she, but a It.
What do it look like? I ast.
Don't look like nothing, she say. It ain't a picture show. It ain't something you can look at apart from anything else, including yourself. I believe God is everything, say Shug. Everything that is or ever was or ever will be. And when you can feel that, and be happy to feel that, you've found It...
She say, My first step (away) from the old white man (in the sky) was trees. Then air. Then birds. Then other people. But one day when I was sitting quiet... it come to me: that feeling of being a part of everything, not separate at all..."

Shug's ideas about who God is and isn't expanded my own thinking and beliefs about the possibilities of who God can be.

What image of God was taught to you in your youth? Was it a God that was up there in the clouds? Or something different? Has that image of God changed over time for you? If so, then how?

Sexual assault leaves negative impacts on bodies, minds and spirits.
Because of the silence about sexual assault and not knowing who to trust,
most people attempt to deal with these impacts by themselves
but don’t know how to get the breakthroughs they need.
Trying to "get over it" alone, many people engage in a constant cycle of thoughts, narratives and self-talk that limit their lives – relationships, career, finances, education, degree of happiness and personal fulfillment.
If you limit yourself, Taking Back My Life! is for you.

For almost 20 years, Taking Back My Life! has been transforming people's lives. Register today.
