Masonic Education Moment

"I would say there are three steps in Masonry. The first step is the ritual; the second step would be the fellowship to be taken and enjoyed; and the third step would be Masonic information for enlightenment or education."
– William K. Bailey

Grand Lodge of Texas... The Origin Story

"In March 1835 the first Masonic meeting was held in Texas for the purpose of establishing a lodge in Texas. Six Masons met under an oak tree near the town of Brazoria.   They applied to the Grand Lodge of Louisiana for a dispensation to form and open a Lodge.   A dispensation was issued and later a charter. This first Texas lodge was called Holland Lodge No. 36.   It was named after then Grand Master of Masons in Louisiana, John Henry Holland. Anson Jones was the first Worshipful Master of Holland Lodge No. 36, now Holland Lodge No. 1. The charter was brought by John M. Allen and given to Anson Jones just prior to the battle of San Jacinto."

Take Your Vote Seriously

By Brother Eric L. Kolb

Election of new officers are just around the corner and it is time to ask yourself some serious questions.

1. Does This Group Of Officers Know The Work?
One of the biggest problems facing Texas Freemasons Lodges is officers going in without knowing how to do the simplest of requirements of being able to open and close all four Lodges. Many Lodges hope the officers will learn as they go, but that is rarely the case.

2. Do The Officers Have A Plan For The Upcoming Year?
It is not out of place to ask the upcoming officers what are the plans for the year.

3. What Are You Willing To Do For The Lodge This Year?
The officers can only do so much without the brothers working with them. Are you going to be the Knife And Fork Mason, just showing up for the meal and stated meeting ... BUT Don't show for chores, events and help for brothers OR take pride and be there for the Lodge and brothers just like you hope they are there for you?

Masons On The Move

Brother Marco Pizana has always enjoyed traveling. Each month he plans on visiting a neighboring lodge and/or attending a Masonic Event and he'd love for you to join him.

Johnson City, Texas 78636

Brothers About Town...

Breakfast with the Brothers on April 19 was at Poco Loco Supermercado.

THAT'S Different...

The "THAT'S Different" section is dedicated to something we find neat, odd or a little funny that we come across during the month that has a tie-in to Masonry.

Brother Marco Pizaña couldn't help but have a little fun while power washing a deck in April. We think he may have a future in power wash art.
