You're Invited! Winter Solstice Ceremony on Dec. 21st.
See details at bottom of newsletter.

Our Vision Statement

We are a global sisterhood that connects women though circles. We create safe spaces to share our true selves. Meeting in circle, we find our voices, claim our power, and celebrate our self-worth, leading to personal and planetary transformation.
Dear GTW Sisters,
We’re moving into the darkest time of the year. If we were to reflect Nature, we would be going inward, resting, regrouping, just allowing ourselves to be still. But in our culture, December is one of our busiest times with holiday parties, family gatherings, searching for all those perfect gifts, etc.
How do we find balance in this? In the midst of the craziness, set aside a minimum of 15 minutes, 30 would be better, for quiet time. It doesn’t matter when that happens during the day. For me, it can be as simple as taking a walk on my morning break at work. If you are getting really stressed out, stop for a moment and take some deep breaths. Look carefully at what you are scheduling for yourself. You don’t have to do it all. Give yourself space.
We have a beautiful full moon ceremony happening on December 1st. It would be a wonderful way to be in a nurturing supportive space. You could use it as an opportunity to set your intentions for the month. Often the gift giving and entertaining at the holidays creates financial stress. On the 13th, you could meet up with the Prosperity Circle to see how to create more of that in your life. And on the 26th, you could complete this month/year drumming to the beat of your own heart.
From my heart to yours, may you find time this month to honor yourself, Nature’s ways, and whatever spiritual path you may follow.

Monthly Circles

Gather the Women Nevada County is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. As part of our business practice we are asking that each woman who attends a circle sign our Liability Waiver & Release Form.  If you go to multiple circles, you only need to sign one form.  There may be special waivers for those circles held in commercial locations instead of private homes. Thank you for supporting us in this process.
In consideration of others, we request that women honor the No Scent Zone at our circles and events.

Any woman who has begun, is in the middle of, or completed her menses is welcome to attend.

Women, please wear a long skirt (I have extra).  Bring a snack or dish to share after. There is a suggested donation of $10 to support the New Dream Foundation & GTW. Bring drums, rattles and other instruments for the ceremony. We will be outside, so dress appropriately for the weather. Contact: Dr. Nanci Shanderá

Email for registration, location, and detailed flyer. No charge - Offered in partnership with SNMH Dignity Health Cancer Center
In this warm, supportive group, you will transform limiting and unconscious perceptions of your life, discover inner secrets of healing, learn how your dreams reveal deep messages, learn how adversity is a gift, and eliminate judgment. We’ll work with the challenges you are experiencing, whether regarding physical health, emotional harmony, relationships, spiritual growth, or other struggles.

This group is sponsored by the SNMH Dignity Health Cancer Center and is open to all women wishing to heal on any level. The work is particularly effective for those dealing with cancer now or in the past, dealing with cancer (or death from cancer) of a loved one, or working with caregiving cancer patients. This group is not a therapy group, but rather Soul and heart-based. You will learn to perceive your challenges of body, mind and Spirit from an unconditional, healing perspective.

Do you find yourself on the edge of "never enough" and wanting more financial security? Our attitude towards money contributes to truly having the life we dream. Through examining and redefining our relationship with money we intend to create expanded prosperity. Please join us as we support each other in transforming our relationship with money to create greater financial flexibility. We’ve completed reading and discussing Lynn Twist’s book, The Soul of Money and Easy Breezy Prosperity: The Five Foundations for a More Joyful, Abundant Life by Emmanuel Dagher.

We’re now using the Heart Triad Process to focus on our highest intention, and then requesting and receiving support from the other members of the circle.  It’s a very powerful approach. We hope you will join us.

Sounding for Self-Care & World Peace

Third Thursdays
Starting in January
On Break for the Holidays

Contact: Hilary Brumley, or

In this circle we will explore the healing, transformative, and creative power of self-created vocal sounds called “toning”. We will experience harmonic resonance and heart coherence, bringing balance and clarity, enabling us to be the best expressions of ourselves. We will learn about the sacred vowel sounds and their correspondence to the chakras and glands. We will explore basic principles of sound healing. We will explore silence and harmonic overtones, creating sacred space and sending intentions for the highest good and harmony of all.
“tone”...expresses his whole organization of body, soul, and spirit
as a revelation to the outside as well as to the inside.
The vowel element is the sound playing on this musical instrument.
     When producing vowel sounds,
we actually push what lives in the soul out through the body.

                                                                           ~ Rudolph Steiner

Come let your unique voice enrich the diverse harmonic symphony of the universe!

Women's Study Book Circle

Contact: Angie Lux, or (530) 272-2402

The Book Circle is currently closed to new members. We limit  the membership to 8. Any more than that limits the ability of  the women for sharing their voice. We have women on the waiting list, so if you are interested in starting a new book study circle contact Angie.

We completed This Fight is Our Fight by Elizabeth Warren. In December we will meet to discuss books for next year.

Drumming Circle

4th Tuesday
On Break for the Holidays
Contact: Judith,
Our new 6 pm start time is to accommodate our having a potluck. Bring your favorite dish and enjoy the good food and each other.

Our drumming circle has been deepening the impact of the drumming itself by choosing to focus each separate drumming with an intention, and then sitting in silence at the close of each drumming sequence. Come join us as the beat of the drums reflects the beat of our hearts and we become one in sound and harmony.
Please mark the 4th Tuesday of the month for future drumming dates.

Wholeness & Equality Bible Study

On Break for the Holidays
Contact: Laurel, or call/text 916-799-0998 and see Gather the Women NC Meetup to RSVP

Handouts Provided
Repairing the Narrative. Occupying Jesus. Restoring Mary Magdalene This is a study of relatively recently discovered and translated, early Christian texts.  In particular, studies of the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, lost for centuries, reveal the true legacy of Jesus and Mary, and provide the wholeness and equality missing from the traditional narrative. Perhaps more of the world is ready now, for the full story and the progressive vision for humanity that it represents.

Thanks to the latest translations, the Son of Man now becomes the Child of True Humanity. Readings from The Meaning of Mary Magdalene: Discovering the Woman at the Heart of Christianity by Cynthia Bourgeault; also The Gospel of Mary of Magdala by Karen L. King & other works will be provided. Jean-Yves LeLoup's book, The Gospel of Mary Magdalene will be discussed. All faiths and worldviews welcome.

Winter Solstice Ceremony

for Men and Women

Thurs, Dec. 21st, 6:00-8:00 pm
Ixchel Tucker, 925-269-9655 or email

Celebrate the season as we bring in the Winter Solstice. On this, our darkest day of the year, we honor the inward nature of winter. In ceremony we come together to hold the light and darkness of the world. Each person will have the opportunity to release what they are ready to let go of and invite in the new that they are ready to embrace.

Bring a holiday treat to share with the group. (Gluten-free and sugar-free options are welcome.)

Bring an unscented candle to light the new season.
A $5-10 donation is requested.

Nancy Busey and Judith Hurley Prosser joined with Good Women International for a Human Trafficking prevention event.

Posters, with information on how to get help, were distributed to 36 businesses. Local artists created the eye catching notices, which are required by state law to be posted in bars, massage businesses, hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts.

Circle Contributions & Updates

Above it was noted that there is a request for $5.00 to be contributed to GTW when attending a circle. The purpose of that is to help with funding for the ongoing outreach of Gather the Women of Nevada County, including films, presentations, and special events.

Many of you are attending more than one circle. Some circles meet more frequently than others. Our request is just that each person give as she is able to joyfully contribute without creating a hardship for herself. No one will ever be denied participation in a Gather the Women of Nevada County event because of lack of funds.

In consideration of others, we request that women honor the No Scent Zone at our circles and events. GTW is not liable or responsible for the content or qualifications of the materials or presenters of the programs listed.
“Listening, witnessing, role modeling, reacting, deepening, mirroring, laughing, crying, grieving, drawing upon experience, women in circles support each other and discover themselves, through talk.”
- Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, The Millionth Circle.
