Welcome...

Spring has been in the air here at Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW! With the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival to the upcoming Star Wars Weekends at Disney's Hollywood Studios, there is a little bit of something for everyone during the springtime in the parks.

In this month's issue, we're recapping the Flower & Garden Festival, including some of my food reviews at the Garden Marketplace booths. Some of the booths I visited include:

We're also taking a look at last year's Star Wars Weekends special dining experiences. I'll be heading to the Sci-Fi Dine In Galactic Breakfast again this year, and I can't wait! You can check out my reviews of the the Sci-Fi Dine In Galactic Breakfast (bring something fun to trade with the Jawas while you enjoy your breakfast!) and the Hollywood & Vine Star Wars Character dinner.

In this issue of the newsletter, we're also featuring GFDF at WDW's newest sponsor and travel partner, Practically Perfect Vacations. I had the chance to interview agency owner, Kim Marko, and I absolutely adore the fact that this agency has a lot of experience with special diets first-hand. They are a terrific vacation planning agency, and they can help assist you with all your Disney vacation planning needs.

Of course, summer is just around the corner and that means the Coolest Summer Ever promotion at Disney World is nearly here. I can't wait to check it all out! Stay tuned for next month's issue of the newsletter where we'll look at all the exciting things to do at Disney in the summertime!

As always, this newsletter features our Disney GF/DF food photo of the month, updates on special events and meetups, and guest articles. Of course, you’ll always find the latest reviews, tips, and tricks on Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW! If you have a great idea for a series or feature you'd like to see in the newsletter, let us know by emailing: gfdf.wdw@gmail.com

Meet Kim Marko from Practically Perfect Vacations

Looking to plan your next Jolly Holiday? Kim Marko and the team at Practically Perfect Vacations are here to help! I recently had the chance to interview Kim to learn a little bit more about the agency and the services they offer for guests, including ways to assist guests with special dietary needs.

--

Can you tell the readers a little bit about Practically Perfect Vacations?

I started in travel in 2009 purely by accident.  I was dragged in.  I helped friends and family plan their Disney vacations "for fun".  They fun turned into a job.  And the fun has truly always been and always be one of my passions.  I have traveled to the Walt Disney World Resort since the 1970's.  I am also an ex Southern Californian.   I am passionate about Disney.  And I want our clients/guests to be passionate about Disney, and love their Disney Vacation as well.  Or wherever they chose to vacation with us.  We are all about creating wonderful memories with your family.  We are an extremely small agency.  And we chose to keep ourselves small. We love our clients.  They are in many ways members of our family.  We know when they travel.  We know their preferences to resorts, dining, attractions.  And we enjoy knowing those details about their families.

What are the benefits to booking your vacation through an authorized Disney vacation planner like Practically Perfect Vacations?

We get the same rates as booking through Disney, Expedia, Orbitz, you name it.  But by working with us you are working with someone who is an authorized Disney Vacation Planner. We "hold your hand" every step of the way.  We will book your dining, make your fast passes.  We will write very detailed park plans.  We will guide you.  We will advise you of special events.  We eat, live and breathe Disney.  And if you chose a different location we will eat, live and breathe that location for you as well.  We are a "concierge" service and it is our job to ensure that  your vacation is entirely stress free.

How can agents at Practically Perfect Vacations assist guests traveling to Disney with special dietary needs?

One of the great things about us is we all travel on some sort of special need "dietary" with Disney.  So we know who to call.  We know the chefs.  We know how to have "allergy" listed on table service.  We know how to walk a client through a quick/service ordering location. Or make recommendations of some favorite suggestions.  We know how to guide a client though "snacking" through the resort.  We can help with the Halloween and Christmas Party.  And even make suggestions with Food and Wine and Flower Garden.  Personally, I am bariatric surgery patient.  So my needs are similar to those of diabetic when traveling.  With that said I spent a good portion of my life traveling with members of my family that have Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis as well.

What is your favorite restaurant at Disney for special dietary needs?

I love the California Grill.

If you could recommend one Disney must-do what would it be?

Plan!

How can guests connect with you to book their next Disney vacation?

And of course, we had to ask Kim some fun Disney questions!

What is your...
Favorite resort: Beach Club
Favorite restaurant: California Grill
Favorite park: Epcot
Favorite attraction: Haunted Mansion
Favorite Disney character: May Poppins
Favorite food item:   Sugar Free Cheesecake at the Prime Time
