Holiday Tips & Tricks with Special Dietary Needs

The holiday season is a magical time at the Disney Parks & Resorts. From the fully decorated parks to holiday shows and treats, there's a lot to see and do. There's also a lot of seasonal treats, which can be a bit challenging for those of us with special diets. Here are some tips & tricks for navigating the parks during the holiday season with special diets.

Tip #1 Make Holiday Dining Reservations

Whether you're visiting on Christmas Day or sometime during Thanksgiving week, chances are you're looking for a holiday meal. Reservations book quickly at any time of year at Disney, but even more so during the holidays. On the actual holiday days (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas), select Disney restaurants do have holiday themed meals, but you can definitely get your holiday meals on at many different locations. If you're craving a real holiday feast complete with turkey, stuffing (that's gluten free AND dairy free), gravy, and mashed potatoes, I recommend Liberty Tree Tavern. Year-round, you can enjoy a full Pilgrim's Feast that is very allergy friendly. Honorable mentions go to Biergarten for it's festive decorations and holiday Oompah Band songs and Trattoria al Forno for a Feast of the Seven Fishes inspired meal.

Tip #2 Find Holiday Snacks

This year's holiday season brings marketplace booths at Epcot's Holidays Around the World. Though there is a risk of increased cross-contamination, there are 2 gluten-friendly items marked at the Feast of Three Kings booth. If you're resort hopping to check out the resort holiday decorations, check out the Contemporary and Grand Floridian. Both have gluten free and allergy friendly gingerbread cookies available for purchase at their gingerbread displays, which come from Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC. And speaking of Erin McKenna's NYC, now's the perfect time to stop by for a seasonal treat. They have gingerbread tea loaves, ginger snaps, snickerdoodles, and more! They even offer an allergy friendly hot cocoa for purchase. If you're attending Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, be on the lookout for Enjoy Life Foods Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies. You can get them at various treat locations throughout the event. And of course, grab my favorite...Disney's plain freshly popped popcorn served in a holiday container!

Tip #3 Enjoy the Sights & Sounds

There's so much to see and do at Disney that doesn't include food options at the holidays. Visit the Holidays Around the World at Epcot (my favorite is the tale of the Julenissen from the Norway Pavilion). Check out the holiday parades. Watch a seasonal fireworks show. Enjoy time with your family and friends!

The holidays are a magical time at Disney. I hope these tips and tricks will help you enjoy your visit safely holiday-style!
