Mercer County District Library News

 

Checkout History Now Available

Do you often wonder which book you checked out a few months ago, or even last year? The Library is now able to offer this service. By opting in to Checkout History, you can view the titles you have previously checked out (starting when you opt-in).

You can turn it on yourself through the card catalog at account.mercerlibrary.org or by asking a librarian at Celina, Mendon, Chickasaw, or St. Henry.

Trivia Night at Brew Nation


The Library will be hosting a Trivia Night at Brew Nation (110 S Main St, Celina, OH) on Tuesday, August 23 at 7 pm. Registration for the Trivia Night will begin at 6 pm Brew Nation and the event will begin at 7 pm. Groups and singles are encouraged to participate. For more information, please call the Mercer County District Library at 419-586-4442. All participants will receive an entry to the library Adult Summer Reading Program.

Rock & Mineral Presentation

On Tuesday, August 9 from 6 to 7:45 pm, the mineral curators from the Mercer County District Library will be holding a Rock & Mineral Presentation at the Marion Branch Library.

Each participant will use a mineral kit with 20 minerals in sand and gold miner's pan. A hands-on search will begin a discovery of the mineral's origin, use in industry, and history. All participants will leave with a gift to help begin their own collection. Pre-registration is required. Sign up at the library by August 5th.  

How PUCO Works for You

The Marion Branch will be having the presentation "How the PUCO works for you" on Wednesday, August 24 at 6:30 pm. This program provides a broad overview of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) and its services, including information on Ohio's Energy Choice program, assistance programs and how to get help with a utility related dispute or complaint. Participants are invited to bring in their utility bills and a PUCO representative will answer questions and help them navigate the confusion. No pre-registration is required.

End of Summer Reading

Another year of Summer Reading has come to a close. The Mendon Library wrapped up the Summer Reading Program with a party on July 20, 2016 in the Library annex building. During the party winners of the prizes were announced. This year the library gave away two bikes and tickets to Kings Island.

By getting children involved in the Summer Reading Program, the library strives to keep children reading during their summer break. The library hosts engaging activities and crafts each week in June and July which makes reading fun.

 

St. Henry Branch News


On Wednesday, August 31 at 6 pm the St. Henry Branch will be hosting Zachary Hoffman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).  Mr Hoffman will be providing an Energy Choice presentation, " The Power of Choice: Energy Choice in Ohio."  

There are a lot of options out there when choosing an alternative energy supplier, but how can you know which one to choose?  The Power of Choice program can help participants to understand how Ohio's energy markets work, how to find and compare offers from competitive suppliers and how to deal with energy marketer's door-to-door and telemarketing salespeople.
