Fine Free, Forever

The Mercer County District Library in Celina and its three branches in Chickasaw, Mendon, and St. Henry will stop charging overdue fines beginning April 11 the start of National Library Week. The Library traditionally holds a fine free week during National Library Week every year but this year the Library Board decided to permanently stop charging fines on any overdue items that are returned. Fees will still be assessed on lost or damaged items. Any late fines that were previously charged on patron accounts have been forgiven.

Kindle FireKindle Fire Give-Away

The Mercer County District Library in Celina is celebrating National Library Week by giving away a Kindle Fire. Entry forms are available at the library. All one needs to do is briefly explain how the Library has transformed one’s life. Entries will be accepted between April 11-16 and one winner will be selected on Monday, April 18.

Marion (Chickasaw) Branch News

 

Money Smart Week

The Marion Branch Library will be hosting "Money Smart Week" the week of April 23-30.  There will be displays at the library all that week and on Tuesday, April 26 at 6:30 PM there will be two presentations, one for adults and one for kids.  The adult program will be "Banking for the 21st Century" and will cover identity theft, online banking, bill pay, investments, health savings accounts, IRAs and loans.  The children's program, also at April 26 at 6:30 PM will be "Hands on Banking" and will go over different forms of currency and seeing the money counting jetter in action and more. Refreshments and giveaways will be provided.

Computer Class with Jay

Jay Miley, Circulation Manager at Mercer County District Library in Celina, will be having free computer classes in Mendon from 12-5 PM on April 12. Call the Mendon Library at 419-795-6472 to reserve your time slot.

St. Henry Branch News

 

CHIPP Program

On April 27th at 6:30 PM the St Henry Branch Library will be hosting CHIPP (Cybersecurity Help, Information, and Protection Program). As consumers of all ages rely more and more on technology, it is vital they understand how to protect their electronic devices and keep personal information private.  Learn about the importance of both security and privacy, including the special challenges presented by the use of smartphones and other mobile devices. The program will be presented by Ryan Lippe, Consumer Educator for Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine's Consumer Protection Section. Ryan also prepares educational materials to protect Ohioans from unfair and deceptive business practices and consumer fraud.  Registration is required, please call the St. Henry Library 419-678-3128 to register.

During National Library Week April 11-16 the Library will have a guessing jar. The lucky winner will win a Gift Certificate to the Dairy Dream!
