Roadrunner Squeaks!! #8

Announcing your new Board members!

We're excited to welcome two new board members to NMSPF90 LLC!  Francesca and Luca join Sweeney, Napkin Math, and Squirt to head up financial and legal oversight for our New Mexico Burner community.

Our bylaws allow for up to 9 members, so while we are at functional capacity, we are still seeking 2-4 willing participants to join the Board.  While many of you may be understandably intimidated by the amount of effort that went into producing SunBurn last year, being a Board member is more typically just about being a part of steering and decision-making. Ideal candidates should have reliable access to electronic communications and be able to participate regularly via Slack, as well as attend a monthly meeting via video conference. All manner of experience and persuasion are welcome and encouraged. Primarily, you need to have a level head, a passionate heart, and the interest and inclination to keep New Mexico Burning Man community going and growing. Term limits are typically two years.

The interest form is available here: http://bit.ly/2PXTgmd

Even if you’re uncertain whether you’d be a good candidate, reach out to us to have a discussion. The worst thing that could happen would be a suggestion about other ways you could get involved.  You're welcome to email the Board at any time, at llc@nmspf90.com, with any questions.

And a couple of reminders:

SunBurn 2020 Town Hall
Saturday, February 1, 2020
1:30pm meet-and-greet, 2:00pm meeting starts
LivLab Studios, 420 Haines Ave NW, ABQ

This is when we really kick off planning the event, rounding out department lead roles, sparking general volunteer interest, and announcing more details, along with answering your questions about getting involved, too.

As a 100% volunteer-driven event, SunBurn simply cannot happen without your participation. If you had a great time at SunBurn last year and want to lend a hand this year, or if you had a terrible time and want to make it better, or any number of other reasons to get involved, we need you! There are a variety of roles to fill and ways to contribute, to meet any level of interest and availability. The Event Council is compromised of key department leads and is responsible for planning, producing, and executing SunBurn. This is not yet a call-out for volunteers to sign up shifts at the event, which will come later, but is for people interested in leading a department during planning. You will not be on your own as we want to have at least two co-leads for each department.

You can register your interest here for now, and we will be available to talk more at the Town Hall.

We are also still taking submissions for a theme!
While a small Theme Team will ultimately make the final decision, you, our Community, are invited to submit your suggestions. Past years' themes have been based around the elements, or space, or perspective. So what would you like to see for this year? What is calling to you? Be as wild and creative as you want! A brief but thought-out explanation on why you chose this theme will be much appreciated in order to help the Theme Team with their decision.

Submit your great idea at this link.
