Get A Certificate Of Appreciation For Your Helper

Helena, Francesca and Alexa helped their volunteer grandparents, Bill and Sandy Brown over the summer. Bill is a board member and here is what Bill had to say about their help.
"Over the summer months, Sandy and I were accompanied by 3 of our grandchildren on our Tuesday deliveries. They participated in the entire process...from pick up and packing into our containers as well as the actual deliveries. They really enjoyed seeing the clients, and many of the clients were happy to see their youthful, smiling faces. It was a great experience for them, and they are already asking to go with us when they are off school over the holidays."

Bill and Sandy's grandchildren, ages 6, 9 and 13, will each receive a personalized Certificate Of Appreciation in recognition of their help. Please let our office know if someone helped you deliver meals and we'll personalize
a special Certificate Of Appreciation for you to present to them.

And thanks to all of our helpers out there. We would love to recognize them for all they do for you and our clients.

31.5% Increase in Erie Gives

The third annual Erie Gives Day was a success again benefiting our agency with a 31.5% increase over last year's donations. This includes a 6.17% match by the Erie Community Foundation. The donations help defray expenses associated with our meal delivery program but most notably will be used for our Blizzard Bag program. This new program puts 8 lbs. of shelf stable food into the hands of every one of our clients. Thanks to all of you who helped us during Erie Gives Day - a one-day opportunity to increase overall donations through a matching fund.

Thank you to all our donors!

Welcome to...

...our newest volunteers. Raymond Conner is retired and will be taking a route on Tuesdays at SMC. Larry Boarts is Volunteer Coordinator Wendy's brother who works full time and making time to help. Larry will be going out on Wednesdays on a GECAC route.

Custom designed driving maps are the fastest way around your route. Turn-by-turn directions means even the newest members of our community can deliver fast and efficiently. For more details on how to get your own custom map, call Terry at 452-6930.

Information Is Key

Information is key to getting along and getting on. We need more information now than when we were in school just to navigate the maze of aging. I would like to suggest PBS' Next Avenue where their catch phrase is "where grown-ups keep growing." Click here for their website or navigate to in your browser. With article titles like "How To Have Flair At Any Age" and "How Do You Stay Connected To Your Adult Kids Who Are Far Away" to timely event topics like "The Diana Nyad Swim: 7 Career Lessons for Women" makes for a nice visit. And you can get a weekly newsletter outlining their newest cutting edge articles and videos.
