Blizzard Bags Are Back

Our collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank continues with this year's Blizzard Bags. Although we have already had two GECAC winter closures, the extreme weather and early winter may hold more surprises for our clients. This year we will distribute 320 Blizzard Bags to every client we serve. Most of this year's contents are donated and costs have been greatly held down which is good news for our agency.

A BIG thanks from Wendy and me goes out to our volunteers who loaded 106 boxes of Blizzard Bags and delivered them to our two kitchens on Monday of this week. Anita Kaliszewski, Chuck Roehrl, Ron Seyboldt, and Mike Nelligan used their own vehicles, too.

Blizzard Bags will be distributed this week, a few to each volunteer. No one will have to deliver more than three on their route. We are not asking Friday volunteers at GECAC to deliver any since they already extra deliver weekend meals.

Our thanks to Mercyhurst University Public Health Class students who packed all our Blizzard Bags and to Cynthia Plymyer of Second Harvest Food Bank who coordinated the food contents and packing again this year!
