National Radon Action Month

Radon Action Month was a success! Thank you everyone who picked up a radon test and donated non-perishables to their community.

Leelanau gave away 27 radon kits and Benzie gave out 38 radon kits this year!

To help residents learn more about radon levels in their county, Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has created a one stop website. The site has a search-by-county function where residents can learn about average radon levels, contact information for the local health department and state radon officer, and access more educational resources on radon.

Women, Infants & Children (WIC)

Smile! February is National Children's Dental Health Month - a great time to promote the benefits of good oral hygiene, because developing good dental health habits (including regular dental visits) helps children get a jump start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. Did you know that a first visit with your dentist is recommended by 12 months of age?

WIC is here to help parents! Some children are eligible for an oral health assessment and fluoride application during their WIC visit.

Visit http://www.signupwic.com/ or call 231-882-4409 for more information or to sign up for WIC!

Reproductive Health Services

February 14th-21st is National Condom Week.

In 2022, Benzie and Leelanau County had 66 cases of Chlamydia and Gonohorrea (MDSS)

Did you know the Health Department offers free condoms in both offices and provides sexual health testing and treatments? Wondering how you can protect yourself from STDs?

It’s as simple as Talk. Test. Treat.
