Drama Camp Forms to be Mailed, Online Ticketing Update

February 2014

Message from the Editor
Volume 2: Edition 2

February already? Mid-winter by the calendar but while much of the country continues to experience one of the most brutally cold and snowy winters on record, we in Arizona are basking in the sunshine enjoying temperatures in the 70's and 80's. Even Munds Park has had an unusually mild winter to date with very little snowfall and high temperatures ranging into the 50's and 60's as we approach mid-February.  As attentions are turned to Valentines Day and President's Day activities the Pinewood Players Board of Directors,  committees, directors and actors are hard at work doing their "winter tasks" to insure another unforgettable season of "Theatre in the Pines."  Budgets are being reviewed, scripts are being copied, lines rehearsed, marketing materials and and other supplies are being ordered and much planning and preparation for the 2014  season is well underway. Get all the latest news below and don't forget to visit the web site which is updated regularly with new information for our members and patrons.

New Online Ticketing System Update

The new online ticket purchase system is moving forward on schedule. Training and testing has been taking place over the past month and all systems appear to be ready for a March 2014 launch. This new ticket purchase option will provide a convenient way for our members and patrons to purchase tickets online by using credit or debit cards.  The traditional  channels for purchasing tickets (Box Office, phone and mail) will remain available for those who prefer to use them, but the new system will provide an additional option for customers who like the convenience of purchasing online. Kathy Abramowitz has written an article providing details about the system. Click here to read Kathy's article and be among the first to purchase tickets for Pinewood Players 2014 season performances online.

Pinewood Playhouse interior to get new coat of paint

As the season approaches, improvements to the Playhouse continue. As reported, the new seats and carpeting have been installed, new exterior restroom doors have been approved by the PWCC BOD and will be installed prior to the season opening and now the interior of the theater is being scheduled to receive a fresh coat of paint. Timing will  depend on the weather in Munds Park, but the current plan is to complete the work prior to the opening of the theater for the 2014 season. This off-season has brought many improvements to the theater. The continued support of our members and patrons through their membership dues, donations and ticket purchases have made it possible to provide the upgrades and improvements that insure the high quality of the "Theatre in the Pines" experience.

Pinewood Players History to find permanent home in PWCC Library

Pinewood Players Historian, Pam Uvegas and Secretary, Melanie Westmark are working on a project to preserve and display the history of Pinewood Players. The Pinewood Country Club has graciously volunteered space in the Club Library to house a permanent record of the Players organization in the form of memorabilia and scrapbooks. In addition, Pam and Melanie are working on a display that will become a permanent part of the Pinewood Playhouse interior. They have been gathering documents, playbills, photos, posters, etc. for months and we cannot wait to see the results of their creative efforts and hours of work. Their work is another example of the dedication of our volunteers and their willingness to donate their time and energy to provide quality experiences for our members and patrons.  Thank you Pam and Melanie. We look forward to seeing your creations.

Be A Volunteer in 2014!

We continue to remind our members and patrons that Pinewood Players is an organization of volunteers . Our Vice-President, Bill Gibney is leading the charge to solicit your help to make the 2014 season the best ever. By  volunteering you are able to join in the fellowship and camaraderie and make a personal contribution to help bring top quality theatrical experiences to the Munds Park community. There are many  jobs to be done so whether you have a particular talent or just a pair of willing hands, your service is needed and appreciated. Right now, Bill is specifically interested in identifying some folks who have basic computer spreadsheet skills and who may be interested in assisting some of the committee chairpeople with their duties. Click on the "VOLUNTEER NOW" button in the sidebar for information on how you can contribute and experience the rewards of taking an active role in the organization.
