Pinewood Players Give Back to the Community

(Reprinted from pinewoodplayers.com web site)

In addition to providing high quality adult theatre performances, youth drama camps and recitals and other forms of entertainment such as Reader’s Theatre and Chaos Comedy Improvisation performances to the Munds Park community during the summer season, Pinewood Players members are good citizens who generously give back to the community in many ways.

For years Pinewood Players volunteers have produced the annual Kid’s Fourth of July Carnival free of charge in association with other community organizations such as the Pinewood Property Owners Association and Pinewood Country Club. This year’s Carnival was one of the best attended on record and could not have taken place without Pinewood Players support to organize, set up, man the booths and then restore the grounds to pristine condition afterwards. Many of the prizes awarded to all of the youthful participants in the carnival events were donated by the Players membership.

But the Player’s contributions are not limited to volunteer activities. This season the membership of Pinewood Players personally donated $852 during their June General Membership Meeting to support the Wounded Warrior Project. This amount was matched by the Pinewood Players organization to increase the donation to $1704. An additional $1198 was donated from proceeds of the very successful Cabaret Nights Reader’s Theatre events to bring the grand total contributed to $2902. Play tickets were also donated to Wounded Warriors for their raffle to help raise additional funds for the Project.

Pinewood Players donated gift certificates for theatre tickets to the Munds Park Business Alliance Beautification Project for their “silent auction” fund raiser held in late August. The Players organization also donated 200 tickets for the upcoming 2014 season to the MPBA for “Welcome Baskets” to be distributed to new residents of the community.

So next time you attend a Pinewood Players performance or other sponsored event, while you are enjoying the entertainment also be aware that you are supporting worthy causes in the community supported by Pinewood Players volunteers and members.

2014 Season Volunteers Needed!
The Board wishes to thank all those who served and volunteered in 2013. Working with others to create unique cultural experiences and provide high quality entertainment for the community while making new friends and memories that will last a lifetime will be satisfying beyond your expectations. Volunteer now and join in the fun!

Theater Seating Update
The theater seating upgrade has been completed. New carpeting has been installed and the upgraded seating is also in place (see photos below). The theater seating configuration was changed slightly to accommodate additional seats to bring the total seating capacity of the Pinewood Playhouse to 104. There is some painting yet to be completed and depending upon temperature some of the painting may be delayed until spring. However, the project is over 90% complete and the seats are in! While we may not be able to fully enjoy the new seating and flooring until next season, at least we are able to view the finished result and anticipate enjoying our upgraded amenities next summer.
