We truly believe The Green Gathering is the BEST value festival around...

Joining Society of Imaginary Friends, Smiley and the Underclass, Suzy Condrad aka She, Robot, Hoopy Frood, The Fabulous Red Diesel, Buff, Matthew Frederick, Captain Starfighter and the Lockheeds, and Andy Twyman...

One of our absolute favourite bands of last year, Mobius Loop create gloriously eccentric and philosophical folk, fusing world music and conscious rap with eruptions of free-form dance in intimately intense, energetic performances. With a mission to raise positive vibrations, spread vegan sensibility, grassroots philanthropy and co-operative humanist spirituality... this is so much more than music.

Dragonsfly - a force of nature! Going strong after 17 years, Dragonsfly music is celebratory, heart-warming, uplifting, hypnotic, life-affirming; a fully immersive experience harnessing energies of European Celtic acoustic folk-trance and Eastern grooves and moods, brought to life by conscious lyrics, soaring melodies, lush harmonies and intelligent instrumentals. Infectious, compelling & charismatic.

Hattie Hatstar with unique comedy-punk-folk accordion songs rooted in protest culture. A most excellent songwriter, Hattie has a tune for just about every aspect of the human condition. Murder ballads, protest songs, drinking songs, songs about underwear, ageing disgracefully and Armageddon... all delivered with disarming honesty and wit.

Sika produces music featuring indigenous instruments and elemental soundscapes that reflect a lifetime of listening to the rhythms of nature. Didgeridoo, drums, flutes and traditional Maori Taonga Puoro create profound states of relaxation and joy.

Dora Darling-Swann sings and plays guitar, fiddle and tin whistle. Influenced by a love for the Earth and the traditional music of the British Isles and Eastern Europe, Dora writes songs with a magical, ancient feel and sound.

Guranfoe with music spanning freewheeling '70s fusion, prog rock, improvisational jazz and Indian ragas... all liberally dosed with wah, left turns of delicate psych and propulsive krautrock. Melodic, symphonic, cosmic, ferocious, joyful and above all, free.

Joining The Raconteurs' Delight stage, Voices of Gaia talkspace, Mayflower Project teen tent, Healing Circle and Craft Island... we have...

The Triban Stage in a bespoke white canvas marquee, spilling into a garden with benches and campfire. A cafe-bar and stage for folk, funk and global grooves, Triban has a gentle atmosphere – until the beats accelerate and the place erupts with wild dancing!

Floating Lotus, a haven of interconnecting geodesic domes hosting a fab line up of festival faves, up-and-coming young artists, solo impressarios and politically conscious bands. With morning laughter yoga, plus aromatic teas, lovingly made cakes and real ale.

The 99% Bar hosting an eclectic assortment of djs and special guests, plus pub quiz and rebel artwork. Reggae, dance, trance and disco beats are here... with woodfired pizza, real coffee, vegan pancakes and a community campfire just outside.

Listen out for the Rooted Collective 99% Bar takeover (Friday or Sat night tbc).

Rooted Collective - an ethical start-up combining sound system, music label and organic clothing - creates space for young people in a welcoming and grounded environment, encouraging peaceful interactions and care for each other while enjoying a shared love of music and dancing the night away.

With 10% of proceeds made by the collective going to Tree Sisters, a global women-led reforestation project, Rooted have a 'treethos' matching ours!

Inviting Rooted along is one of our responses to the Mayflower Project's 2018 GG Youth Consultation.

The Permaculture Community will be expanding into the woods with Forest Schools, Forest Gardens, an Almanac space, Repair Cafe and We The Uncivilised hangar for sharing stories, song, film and more. Don't miss the Free Shop!

Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share workshops will focus on practical solutions for sustainability and climate change adaptation in the face of the devastating reality of the latest IPCC report, and the upswell of action with the rise of Extinction Rebellion.

The Campaigns Field will be updating itself with an outreach crew to spread the activist message far and wide. The Women's Tent, TravellerSpace for toddlers, Radical Parenting, South West Against Nuclear, Food For A Future, and the Solar Sewing Shop will be arranged around Cal's Garden.

In the main Campaigns Workshop Marquee, find out how to get involved in everything from the national Frack Free movement to Kurdish solidarity. After a year off in 2018 we're pleased to hear the Queer Space will be back, and there'll be the usual open mic sessions every evening hosted by Radical Wales.

Storytellers, puppeteers, jugglers, clowns & showfolk at GG 2018

Thanks to Ali Russell for filming, Bethlehem Casuals for the music and to all the artists and performers for helping us create such a fab Show!

Last year we won the Greenest Festival accolade at the UK Festival Awards.

This year we were nominated for the
Green Operations Award at the European Festival Awards - the only UK event to be shortlisted!

An international jury of experts convened and... The Green Gathering made it to third place. For a small grassroots festie with no sponsorship we think that's pretty impressive.

DGTL Amsterdam were the winners, they do some great stuff, similar to us (reuseable bar cups, meat-free, onsite composting & resource re-use) only on a slicker, city-scale!

Hopefully we'll still be invited to take part in the European Festival Awards when the current political shenanigans have settled down; we'd love a chance to come first.

The Green Gathering is a festival and a community; an immersive, interactive showcase of skill sharing, creative solutions and off grid living... all powered by wind, sun, people and passion.

It's a festival beyond hedonism for people who love the earth enough to celebrate and save it; a place to party - then wake up and put the world to rights!

With an authentically uncommercial, family friendly and transformative experience, we aim to turn people on to community building, co-operation and
low impact solutions.
The festival is produced by Optimistic Trout Productions, a Community Interest Company, and commissioned by the Green Gathering charity (no. 1156593).

Use this link to switch to clean renewable energy with Ecotricity and we'll receive up to £60 towards making the festival even better, at no extra cost to you.
The Green Gathering has received funding from the Welsh Government, in recognition of the positive impact we bring to Chepstow and beyond.
This will help the festival become increasingly sustainable both financially and environmentally, while providing festival goers with a stepping stone into the fabulous countryside and culture of Wales.
