California:
  • Protection for hairstyle
  • Requirements for on-duty meal period
  • Laws on the horizon:
    • AB5 – “ABC test” for independent contractors
    • AB25 – California Consumer Privacy Act
    • AB51 – ban on mandatory arbitration agreements
    • SB778 – mandated sexual harassment training
    • AB9 – statute of limitations for FEHA (discrimination and sexual harassment) claims
    • SB142 – lactation accommodation
    • SB171 – pay data reporting
    • SB218 – local employment discrimination laws and enforcement
    • AB1066 – unemployment for striking employees
    • AB170 – joint liability for harassment
 
Colorado:
  • Ban-the-box regulations
  • Required payout of unused vacation at separation
 
Illinois:
  • SB75 which impacted and/or created several laws including:
    • required anti-harassment training
    • created the Workplace Transparency Act
    • amended the Illinois Human Rights Act to add protections for “perceived” status
    • created the Hotel and Casino Employee Safety Act
    • created the Sexual Harassment Victim Representation Act
    • expanded the Victims’ Economic Security and Safety Act (VESSA)
    • created reporting requirements for adverse judgements in sexual harassment cases
