OUR TEAM GET ACTIVE

The team at Sports Central have taken the opportunity to use the Premier's Active April to try a great range of new and existing sporting opportunities across our community.  Here is a summary of what the team have been up to -

Following the conclusion of the cricket season Michael returned to the gym after a few weeks break, he also plans to try out a new sport this winter and is on the lookout for something new.  Andrew has enjoyed playing badminton through the Sons of the West program as well as playing golf regularly with a group of friends.  Simon has joined in the Sons of the West Smythesdale group fitness activities with the participating men.  Tom has started training at a local football club with the aim of playing again.  He has also been actively involved during training and games to support the newly formed Ballarat Bushrangers football team, a side competing in the Reclink competition offering football for people experiencing disadvantage.  Kim has been very active this month, visiting the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre to enjoy the extra group fitness offerings that have been delivered for the community.  The highlight has been a virtual simulated cycling class called 'Stages Flight'.  Kim has also returned to a dance group with some friends.  Kim said about Active April "I hope to try some of the other activities on offer around Ballarat to round out my activities; maybe yoga, dancing or Zumba sounds intriguing.  The app makes it easy to log your time and as it increases it's an incentive to keep moving".

There are a range of fantastic opportunities available across the region, visit the Active April website www.activeapril.vic.gov.au or download the app to register and see what is happening near you.
