Building Communities of Respect and Equality: 
Leading Change in your Clubs or Associations to Prevent
Violence Against Women


On behalf of Women's Health Grampians, CORE and Sports Central we wish to invite you to a Presidents' Leading Change Dinner to focus on how sporting clubs and associatons can take meaningful action to eradicate violence against women and children within our community.  This is an opportunity to lead change in this area and promote gender equality.  Guests will hear from key figures with experience in this area, including:

Peter Gordon, President, Western Bulldogs Football Club
Jerril Rechter, Chief Executive Officer, VicHealth

Greg Anders, Former President, Ballarat Golf Club
Michael Flynn, Executive Officer, Sports Central

Speakers will discuss the leadership required from all organisations to address the underlying causes of violence against women and how to contribute to building safe, equal and respectful communities for everyone.  This event is relevant to all leaders within any sporting club or association; please promote widely withing your networks.

WOMENS LEADERSHIP IN SPORT

Meet Grace Lee, who is extremely passionate about the sport of cricket.  Grace's first playing experience was in the junior boy's competition at the age of eleven.  At the age of fourteen Grace was selected to play regional cricket for the Western Waves and was subsequently part of a winning state championship team and selected to travel internationally to play in Japan and Samoa.   Grace continues to play at a high level and has taken on many coaching and development roles within the sport at the local, regional and state level.

BAREFOOT BOWLS ON FRIDAY NIGHTS

The Ballarat North Bowling Club will be running a Barefoot Bowls Program commencing on Friday 17th November for four weeks.  Kick off your shoes and try Barefoot Bowls with friends and family.  It's a fun, relaxed and social version of the game.  No experience or equipment required, just come along.  The cost is $7 per night per person and starts at 6:15pm.

MINI ROOS PROGRAM IN ARARAT

The Ararat Fitness Centre will be hosting the Football Federation Aldi Mini Roos program.  This program is a beginners program for boys and girls aged 4-9 years.  No experience or skill level requirements.  Sessions will commence on Thursday 23rd November at 4:00pm.  Cost is $40 per child.

ROCK UP NETBALL IN ARARAT

Rock Up Netball is starting in Ararat at the Alexandra Oval from Thursday 9th November.  This program is a flexible way to get active and incorporates basic netball skills, modified games and activities.  Rock Up Netball is free and is for females 15 and over. To register contact Mel Taylor on 0439 331 699 or email mel.taylor@netballvic.com.au

DEFIBRILLATOR GRANTS FOR SPORTING CLUBS

This program provides Victorian sporting clubs with the opportunity to acquire an automated external defibrillator (also known as an AED) for their club or sports facility.  Successful applicants receive an AED package which includes a defibrillator, training and six years of maintenance.  Delivery will commence in June 2018.  Applications close on 22nd December 2017

SPORTING CLUB GRANTS

Funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria, Round 2 of the 2017/18 Sporting Club Grants will be open soon.  This program provides grants of up to $5000 to assist in the purchase of sports uniforms and equipment, to improve the capacity and accessibility of Victorian clubs and increase the skills of their coaches, officials and managers.  Grants close Wednesday 24th January 2018

RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL HOSTING

The summer sports have began and the festive season is very soon.  Do you have enough members trained in responsible service of alcohol?  Maybe your club can band together with another in the area to host a course.  Limited availability in early December on a first-in-first-place basis.  To host an RSA course at your club, contact Rachel or Kim on 5331 6966 or email info@sportscentral.org.au
2017 VICTORIAN SPORT AWARDS

Vicsport, in partnership with the State Government of Victoria are proud to announce nominations are now open for these Awards.  It is a chance to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our home grown sporting heroes and those who have shown commitment and dedication to community sport in Victoria.  Nominations close Monday 15th January 2018

VICTORIAN YOUNG ACHIEVER AWARDS

These Awards are designed to acknowledge, encourage and promote the achievements of young Victorians up to the age of 29 years.  Do you know someone who is doing amazing things in your community?  Category winners receive a variety of prizes and recognition for the Nominations close Monday 18th December
