Dear <<First Name>>

Meeting Notice

L4R will meet next Wednesday 24 July at 6pm in the Boardroom on Level 36, State Chambers, 52 Martin Place Sydney (entrance from Phillip St).

If you experience an access problem when you arrive, please call me on my mobile 0404 532 249.

The minutes of our previous June meeting can be read at L4RMin26Jun19

We are planning a number of projects this year to advance the cause for refugees.  Please come along to our meeting and join us in our work.

Have you voted?  Support L4R member Sabrin Farooqui for NSW ALP Policy Forum

The ballot for the election for the NSW Policy Forum, closes on the 31 July 2019.

In our last newsletter, we asked that you give Sabrin your number 1 vote.

If you have not already voted, please do not forget to do so.  We are aware that some ALP members (who do not have online facilities with the ALP), are still waiting for their ballot paper to arrive in the mail.  You need to chase this up if by the end of this week, you have not received it.

Sabrin's priorities, via her candidate statement and photo can be accessed at SabrinStatementNSWPolicyForum19

I mentioned last week that since joining Labor for Refugees, Sabrin has been very active and has worked hard in her local migrant community, as well as with L4R. You may therefore be interested to read a recent article in the Aus Bulletin about her work

Refugee Rally this Saturday at 2pm at the Sydney Town Hall

The DON'T LET DUTTON REPEAL MEDEVAC LAW/SIX YEARS TOO LONG RALLY TO CLOSE MANUS AND NAURU, is being held Australia-wide this Saturday.  In Sydney, it's being held at the Sydney Town Hall at 2pm.

Labor for Refugees will attend and will meet beforehand, across the road in Druitt St in the square in front of the Queen Victoria Building.  You will find us there with our Labor for Refugees banner.

Please join us to send a strong message to the Federal Government that we oppose any attempt to repeal the Medevac law and want those refugees still living on Manus and Nauru, to be brought to Australia.

Speakers include:
Dan Ilic (Comedian and filmmaker)
Rita Mallia (President, CFMEU NSW)
James Cruz (NSW Greens)
Shannen Potter (Young Labor Left).
