Oregon EV Rebate Bill Attracts Support

There is plenty of evidence that “cash on the hood” incentives are the best way to increase electric vehicle sales. Drive Oregon is working to secure the passage of HB 2704, which will establish rebates of up to $2,500 for passenger cars and up to $250,000 for electric transit buses. The bill had its first hearing on February 8 and received support from over a dozen organizations and industry firms. Drive Oregon submitted testimony supporting the bill, highlighting why we think an electric vehicle rebate will be good for Oregon's residents, environment, and economy. To show your support for HB 2704, add your name here! Learn more about our 2017 legislative priorities in our recent blog post. Equity and Electric Vehicles

This month, Drive Oregon hosted two events exploring the connection between transportation access, equity, and electric vehicles. An interactive workshop focused on engaging partners and community members in this important conversation. Afterward, our monthly event looked at how electric car sharing programs can be designed to succeed in disadvantaged communities - communities where clean, convenient, and affordable transportation is needed most. Joel Espino of the Greenlining Institute contributed his valuable expertise to both events. Drive Oregon also announced the creation of an Equity Work Group that will be a forum for continued dialogue and action on expanding clean transportation access to all. The group's first meeting date will be released soon - stay tuned!

Norway: A Case Study for EV Incentives

Drive Oregon's Program Director Zach Henkin traveled to Norway this month to present at the 2017 Nordic EV Summit. Read his blog post sharing his experience and observations from his time in one of the top markets for electric vehicles in Europe.
Update: Oregon Utility EV Proposals

The Oregon Public Utilities Commission has finalized the schedules for reviewing Portland General Electric's and Pacific Power's proposed transportation electrification programs. To see the review schedule and download the program proposals of each utility, visit the Commission's website: Docket UM 1810 (Pacific Power) and Docket UM 1811 (Portland General Electric). Drive Oregon is participating in both dockets, and invites members who are interested in submitting their feedback on the proposals in partnership with Drive Oregon to contact Jeanette Shaw, our Director of Government Relations.
