A Message from the Executive Director:

From the Executive Director
The Arc is once again debt free! Thanks to a generous donation from the Mary Lacy Chase Youth Fund at Waco Foundation, The Arc was able to pay off the building loan on its new facility at 4901 Lakewood Drive. The donation was given in honor and memory of Jimmy Matus, one of the first responders who died in the explosion at the West fertilizer plant several years ago. A bronze plaque honoring Jimmy will be placed on the exterior of the new facility. The Arc is most grateful for this generous donation from the Mary Lacy Chase Youth Fund given in memory of Jimmy Matus.

After a 3 year absence due to COVID, Boots on the Brazos is back! The Arc’s signature fundraising event will be held May 14 at the Waco Convention Center. The event is one of The Arc’s primary ways of supporting people in our community with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This year, Weldon Henson and Band will be providing the music; they are an Austin-based band that plays great traditional country music. See the flyer on our website at www.wacoarc.org  for event details, and come join the fun!

The Kiwanis Club of Waco’s annual golf tournament that benefits The Arc’s summer camp will be held Wednesday, June 22, at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. Here’s a big shout out to Volvo and Mack Trucks of Waco for sponsoring the event. See the flyer on our website at www.wacoarc.org for details, and spread the word to your golfing buddies to come join us on June 22 for a fun-filled afternoon of golf at Cottonwood Creek for a great cause!

We said goodbye to an old friend who served The Arc well for many years. The building at 1825 Morrow Avenue that housed The Arc for 30 plus years was recently sold. Our thanks go out to the Cooper Foundation for making that facility possible and for a generous grant for our new facility. All of The Arc’s programs are now operating at the new facility at 4901 Lakewood Drive.

The 2022 Arc Board of Directors is a gifted, dedicated group of volunteers working hard to secure The Arc’s future and provide needed services for our community. This year’s officers are: President—Jeff Stubbs; First Vice President—Greg Salome; Second Vice President—Saba Toor; Recording Secretary—Cristi Phipps; Treasurer—Charles Johnson; and Corresponding Secretary—Kristal Lowry. They are joined by Directors: Tiffany Brooks, CraShanta Evans, Carlie Gause, and Lisa Goldstrich. I am grateful for their dedication to The Arc and the people we serve.
