ECPA Supports Upcoming Forum on Climate Change

High-level international experts on climate change will participate in the 59th OAS Policy Roundtable, which will explore some of the key challenges the countries of the region face as they seek to mitigate negative consequences and improve their ability to adapt to a changing planet. The event—called “Policy Dialogues on Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities for the Americas”—is sponsored by the OAS and the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA). It will take place on June 17, beginning at 3 p.m. EDT, at OAS headquarters in Washington. Read more

Gauging the Effects of Climate Change

To be able to mitigate the effects of climate change, countries must be able to measure what is happening. The Regional Workshop on Metrology and Technology Challenges of Climate Science and Renewable Energy brought together some 200 participants to discuss how to strengthen the use of accurate, internationally recognized climate and energy measurements. Read more

Update on Connect 2022

The Colombian government recently offered an overview of the progress made to date by Connecting the Americas 2022 (Connect 2022)—an initiative that sets a goal of universal access to electricity in the hemisphere within the next decade—and invited other countries in the region to become more actively involved in this effort. Read more

Closing the Loop for Sustainability 

Several countries and implementing partners involved in an initiative to promote sustainability in the industrial sector met in Washington May 13-14 and approved action plans for developing several projects around the region. The working meeting was part of an ECPA initiative called “Closed Looped Cycle Production in the Americas.” Read more

Entrepreneurial Initiative on Clean Energy Reaches the Finish Line


Wrapping up an initiative to foster entrepreneurial innovation in clean energy, the organization Yo Emprendedor presented its findings, recommendations, and follow-up proposals at a May 14 meeting in San José, Costa Rica. Read more

Montevideo Meeting Focuses on Making Homes More Energy-Efficient

With the motto “Healthy, safe, and energy-efficient homes for the Americas,” a meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay, looked at how to improve housing with a focus on energy efficiency—particularly for low-income households in the region.  Read more
