LAST CALL: Internship Award Applications - MJ-School
UNC School of Media and Journalism undergraduate majors who have been admitted to the school are eligible to apply for funding through a wide array of awards made possible by generous donors. Information Session: Washington Internship Program - The Fund for American Studies
The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) is now accepting applications for its summer 2018 LIVE. LEARN. INTERN. academic internship programs based in Washington, DC. Generous scholarship funding is awarded to students based on financial need and merit.

TFAS will be holding an info session on Friday, November 2, from 12-1pm in Carroll 142. Come by to learn more about the program. Click here for more info. Contact Dana Faught at Dfaut@tfas.org with questions. 

Meet the Pros: Maggie Engellenner and Lindsey Sparrow
Maggie Engellenner is a part of the Digital Strategy Team at the NBA, where she manages the NBA's relationships with its social and digital partners. Lindsey Sparrow is a broadcast assistant at the NBA and 2017 Carolina grad.

Maggie will be holding an information session on Friday, November 2, from 2-3pm in Carroll 143. Her session is a great opportunity for students interested in careers in sports media to hear from a professional in the field and get career advice!

Information Session - BrightHouse Consulting
Do you dream of doing creative work that has a real, positive impact on global society? BrightHouse is a global creative consultancy that helps clients find and articulate their “Purpose,” or reason for existence, beyond selling products to fulfilling higher order societal needs. Our creative department produces films, narratives, activation ideas, and communications materials to bring Purpose to life through eloquent and compelling storytelling. Some of our recent clients include P&G, Dr Pepper, Nestle, Delta, and Mercedes-Benz. This work requires a mind for creative storytelling, a heart for social impact, and a passport for global travel.

If that sounds like you, come talk with BrightHouse staff and former interns to learn more about what we do and our paid summer internships in writing, design, art direction, and film. The information session is on Wednesday, November 14 from 5-6pm in Carroll 33.

Meet the Pros: Bridget Harrington
Bridget Harrington is the Executive Director of Innovate Raleigh, an organization working to drive Raleigh into the top five innovation hubs in the country. Bridget has 15 years of experience in marketing and entrepreneurship, including co-founding her own marketing firm, Syndicate Media Group. Bridget has worked in New York City, San Francisco and Raleigh. 

Bridget will be hosting an information session in Carroll 141 on Friday, November 16, from 1:00-2:00pm. Students interested in careers in marketing or entrepreneurship, or those interested in working in San Fransisco or New York City should attend!

Meet the Pros: Jessica Stringer
Jessica Stringer is a 2010 alum and the Executive Editor of Chapel Hill Magazine. Jessica also has experience as an editor, blogger and writer for Southern Living Magazine. 

Jessica will be holding one-on-one office hours on November 16 from 1-3pm in Carroll 161. Students interested in careers in reporting and magazine editing are highly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity! Click here to sign up for a meeting. Slots are first come, first served.

Entrepreneur Applicants - Launch / Chapel Hill, NC
Launch, Chapel Hill's award winning Business Accelerator located in the heart of downtown, has opened our 
application for Cohort 11!  Launch is looking for entrepreneurs who are committed to growing their early stage businesses through our program starting January 2019.

Freelance Videographer Opportunity - Three Ships Media / Raleigh, NC
Three Ships Media is in need of a freelance videographer for a one-off project for one of our media properties, Mattress Advisor, at our office in Raleigh located very close to Cameron Village. We are filming a "blind mattress test" with the workers in our office. Filming should take roughly an hour (maybe two). We will need them to edit the footage as well.

We are flexible on timing but would like to get it done before Thanksgiving. We will work with the schedule of whoever we choose to film, it will just have to take place sometime between regular business hours. Preferably late-afternoon around 4 or 5 pm. Relevnt's RamChat Rollout
Relevnt™ is a new location-based mobile network that’s launching on college campuses nationwide. In a promo partnership with the Daily Tar Heel, Relevnt is introducing UNC Communities. It’s a fun and engaging, independent student-run mobile directory of communities where students connect into the real-time heartbeat of all things relevant to them at UNC. 

And anchoring this new directory will be RamChat, the flagship Community where students live chat, blog, podcast, and share experiences of what’s going on around campus and town. To lead the launch of RamChat, we are recruiting highly motivated content creators to join our editorial and broadcast team to cover a variety of fun and interesting topics and events. 

Come to the Relevnt rollout on Thursday Nov 1, noon at Student Union - Room 3206A. There will be free pizza and an opportunity to make some cash.

News Internships - AP / Multiple Locations
The AP's news internships are paid and highly selective 12-week programs, meant to provide individually tailored training for students aspiring to be cross-format journalists.

Internships are open to U.S. and international students as well as recent graduates. Applicants must be either: Current full-time students within two years of earning an undergraduate degree (juniors and seniors only), current full-time graduate students or students who will graduate December 2018 or later.

Journalism Fellowship Program - FASPE 
FASPE is accepting applications for its 2019 Journalism Fellowship Program.

FASPE is an intensive, two-week study program in professional ethics and ethical leadership taking place in Berlin, Krakow, and Oswiecim (the location of the former Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz). FASPE Journalism begins by examining the actions and choices of German and international journalists in covering and enabling Nazi policies. It then draws on this historical example to help Journalism Fellows both grasp their role as influencers in their field and in their communities as well as identify and confront the ethical issues currently facing practicing journalists and media outlets at large. 

The Fellowship is fully funded, and we seek applicants of diverse backgrounds and interests. We will be awarding the 2019 FASPE Journalism Fellowship to 12 to 18 graduate journalism students and early-career journalists. For more information on FASPE, click here. To apply, click here.

Communications Interns - The Stimson Center / Washington, D.C.
The Stimson Center is a non partisan think tank that specializes in trans-national security issues such as nuclear non proliferation, food security, environmental security, and protecting civilians in conflict. Stimson is seeking communications interns for Spring 2019.

Stimson offers unique internship opportunities based on the values of education, participation, and hands-on practical knowledge. Based on the Center's commitment to professional development, expectations for interns are high. In return, interns can expect a challenging environment that will prepare them for full-time employment in a professional setting. Interns will gain experience with nonprofit communications, as well as an opportunity to interact with all of Stimson's programs.
