Communications Intern - Oceana/Washington, D.C.
In the United States, Oceana’s campaigns include reducing plastics pollution, stopping the expansion of dirty and dangerous offshore drilling, increasing transparency at sea, promoting responsible fishing practices, and helping to protect sharks, whales and other marine animals.

The communications intern reports to Oceana’s senior communications director and is a member of the U.S. communications team in Washington, D.C. The communications intern is responsible for researching campaign issues, drafting blog posts, editing materials and tracking/summarizing media coverage of our campaigns. Communications Intern - Duke University Graduate School/Durham, NC
The Duke Graduate School is seeking a communications intern for the 2019-2020 academic year. This is an opportunity for a student in journalism or communications to practice what they have learned in the classroom, get feedback, add to their portfolio, and gain valuable experience in the communications operation of a university unit with more than 3,200 students and 25,000 alumni.

The position pays $12 per hour. The intern will work 10 to 15 hours a week. The internship will begin September 9, 2019, and end May 29, 2020 (the dates can be adjusted depending on your schedule).

Responsibilities

The intern will work under the direction of the school’s director of communications. Writing is a key part of the position, but we have a wide range of projects, and we can tailor part of the job to your skills and interests. For instance, your internship experience could include:

  • Writing and editing news releases, feature stories, and other content for the school’s platforms

  • Shooting and editing photos and videos

  • Designing graphics for digital and print

  • Digging into analytics for the school’s websites, newsletters, and social media platforms

    Qualifications

Editorial and Project Management Internship - M+D,
M+D is leading a number of conference program and community development initiatives for high- profile media and technology clients that feature renowned international speakers from business, government, finance, investment, technology, and civil society. Our agency is often responsible for designing and developing the branding, vision, program content, speakers, and audiences for global forums, including mainstage programming, topic-driven breakout sessions, VIP community development, related multimedia content, and community management.

Job description

As part of this effort, we are looking for a program intern/research coordinator who can support the vision and execution of the program directors and ensure that the program – and overall project – is moving forward successfully and on deadline.

The research coordinator will support the speaker booking process by researching topics related to global business and international politics to make editorial recommendations; developing concepts/arguments for how to curate specific speakers and stakeholders into the program; coordinating calls with global CEO offices; reacting to new stakeholder requests for program and logistics information; produce executive briefings based on customized program activations; and manage speaker tracking sheets and databases to ensure high-quality real time reporting (in several formats) to multiple client and partner stakeholders. Scope of work

Editorial internship - Chapel Hill Magazine (Shannon Media)/Chapel Hill, NC
Shannon Media Inc, the publishers of Durham Magazine, Chapel Hill Magazine and Chatham Magazine, are looking for a few editorial interns based out of our Chapel Hill office for the fall semester (late August through the week after Thanksgiving).

Our interns will get great experience and insight into the editorial process. Interns work on assignments for all three magazines (and some of our special publications like the Visitors and Relocation Guides). They are responsible for a lot of fact-checking and uploading print content online, as well as writing blogs about local topics and event roundups. We occasionally send interns to cover and photograph local happenings for our website and print issues. There are opportunities to get social media and WordPress experience and write short print pieces like calendars, weddings and engagements.

Marketing Assistant - UNC Press/Chapel Hill, NC

Event and Marketing Assistant - UNC University Career Services/Chapel Hill, NC (CLOSES TODAY)
This position requires knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and information systems in order to communicate and process information and organize events. Information and Communications Specialist - NC Department of Environmental Equality/Raleigh, NC
The main emphasis of the position will be providing education and outreach to help support the following projects: (1) Vehicle Emission Reduction Activities (VERA); (2) Know the Code; (3) K-12 In classroom outreach; (4) Regional offices as needed. In keeping with the purpose of the N.C. Air Awareness, to provide opportunities for environmental education and outreach to underserved populations, another key task of the position will be assisting with an outreach campaign to high school children in driver’s education programs.  The project, called VERA, will be statewide with a focus on 33 counties that have been designated as non-attainment or maintenance, meaning that they have some air pollution issues.  The Information + Communication Specialist 1, under the guidance of the Team Leader, will be responsible for maintaining the existing partnerships, while continuing to look for new opportunities.  Outreach materials will need to be updated and new materials developed, as needed.  Data collection and evaluation will also be an essential function of the position, to ensure the success and effectiveness of the project. 
 
The secondary objectives for this position will be to support K-12 air quality education and outreach activities, deliver lessons and activities to NC students, support the roll out of the It’s Our Air (www.itsourair.org) project, and to communicate NC Air Awareness messages to the public.  Additional communications, education, or marketing work may be assigned to support the N.C. Air Awareness program’s goals.  The Specialist’s overall objective is to support the successful communication of air quality topics to K-12 students and the public to better their understanding of air quality, how it effects health, and how it impacts the natural environment.
