Meet the Pros: Ashlan Cousteau
Ashlan Cousteau is a wildly successful television personality and MJ-School alum. Ashlan is the co-star of the Travel Channel's Caribbean Pirate Treasure, a former Entertainment Tonight correspondent, and a fill-in anchor for E! News. Ashlan also has production experience -- she's worked behind the scenes on The Today Show, Access Hollywood, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Saturday Night Live.

Ashlan will be holding an information session on Tuesday, February 5 from 4:00 to 5:00pm in the Halls of Fame (Carroll 128). This is a rare opportunity for students interested in any aspect of broadcast news, television, filmmaking, or production to hear from one of the industry's best. Read more about Ashlan here. Photographers and Videographers Needed for Feb. 13 Conference

No Kid Hungry NC, part of the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, is looking for undergraduates to help take photos and video at its 8th annual NC Child Hunger Leaders Conference. The conference is Wednesday, February 13, from 8am to 4pm at the UNC Friday Center in Chapel Hill. Volunteers will be provided with a free breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.

In addition to its year-round, statewide work to increase access to nutrition programs for children, No Kid Hungry NC hosts this annual conference to highlight and celebrate innovative work being done to feed kids in our state. This year's speakers include: the NC Teacher and Principal of the Year; First Lady of North Carolina Kristin Cooper; and Mandy Cohen, Secretary of the NC Department of Health and Human Services.

Corporate Social Responsibility Intern - Charlotte Hornets / Charlotte, NC
Hornets Sports & Entertainment is looking for a college student to serve as an intern for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department. The CSR intern will serve as support and administrator to the department by assisting with day-to-day and long term community initiatives. The intern will also gain hands-on experience planning and executing major events, maintaining community/corporate partnerships and working with the charitable foundation of the Charlotte Hornets.
 
This is a non-paid internship, a stipend is provided for transportation, food and parking expenses. You will need to able to work 20-40 hours per week. You are required to receive academic credit.  Hours will include most arena events, throughout the semester that may occur on evenings and/or weekends, including Arena Events and Hornets games. The Summer 2019 program runs from May 29, 2019 to August 9, 2019.

Associate Director of Media Relations - UNC / Chapel Hill, NC
The Office of University Communications is responsible for the strategic management of the University’s overall public relations and reputation management activities. The department provides leadership, counsel and services to over 200 communicators across campus and works with those communicators to ensure a unified campus-wide communications strategy. 

Reporting to the director of media relations, the associate director of media relations will help manage the daily operations of the media relations team and handle senior-level initiatives for both the proactive and reactive media needs for the nation’s first public university. This role works with colleagues in the Office of University Communications, University leaders and communications professionals in a fast-paced and busy office that handles a high volume of breaking news issues.

The person in this role will draft communications plans for large-scale promotion initiatives and guide the media relations team on developing strategies for their announcements. They will work with the director to determine storylines that best position the University as a world-class public research institution. They will also engage in issues management and make recommendations for working with the media.
