Meet the Pros: Meg Schiffman
Meg Schiffman is the Director of Marketing at CAVA, a popular restaurant chain based in Washington D.C. Meg will be holding office hours in Carroll 161 this Friday from 9:30-11:00, meeting with students one-on-one for twenty minutes each. Information Session - BrightHouse Consulting
Do you dream of doing creative work that has a real, positive impact on global society? BrightHouse is a global creative consultancy that helps clients find and articulate their “Purpose,” or reason for existence, beyond selling products to fulfilling higher order societal needs. Our creative department produces films, narratives, activation ideas, and communications materials to bring Purpose to life through eloquent and compelling storytelling. Some of our recent clients include P&G, Dr Pepper, Nestle, Delta, and Mercedes-Benz. This work requires a mind for creative storytelling, a heart for social impact, and a passport for global travel.

Meet the Pros: Bridget Harrington
Bridget Harrington is the Executive Director of Innovate Raleigh, an organization working to drive Raleigh into the top five innovation hubs in the country. Bridget has 15 years of experience in marketing and entrepreneurship, including co-founding her own marketing firm, Syndicate Media Group. Bridget has worked in New York City, San Francisco and Raleigh. 

Bridget will be hosting an information session in Carroll 141 on Friday, November 16, from 1:00-2:00pm. Students interested in careers in marketing or entrepreneurship, or those interested in working in San Fransisco or New York City should attend!

Meet the Pros: Jessica Stringer
Jessica Stringer is a 2010 alum and the Executive Editor of Chapel Hill Magazine. Jessica also has experience as an editor, blogger and writer for Southern Living Magazine.

MJ Study Abroad Basics Information Session
Learn the basics of planning your study abroad experience as an MJ-school student at this information session TODAY, Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 4:30 p.m. The session will be held in Carroll 253.

This session is intended for students who are in the early stages of planning their experience and want to learn where they can go and what they can study.

Creative Boot Camp - McKinney and The One Club / Durham, NC
The Creative Boot Camp is an immersive 4-day workshop designed to provide aspiring creatives the opportunity to learn what it takes to be successful in the advertising industry. The boot camp will kick off with a welcome reception at McKinney so students can mix and mingle with the awesome professionals at the agency. Students are then given a creative brief and split into teams of 5 to begin brainstorming. On day two and three, mentors from McKinney will help shape the students ideas into a presentation. The final day culminates with students presenting to a panel of judges for the chance to win prizes! 
The Boot Camp will kick off on Tuesday, November 13th at 10:00 AM and wrap up around 4:00 PM on Friday, November 16th.  And it would be a great addition to any student’s resume.

Freelance Videographer Opportunity - Three Ships Media / Raleigh, NC
Three Ships Media is in need of a freelance videographer for a one-off project for one of our media properties, Mattress Advisor, at our office in Raleigh located very close to Cameron Village. We are filming a "blind mattress test" with the workers in our office. Filming should take roughly an hour (maybe two). We will need them to edit the footage as well.

We are flexible on timing but would like to get it done before Thanksgiving. We will work with the schedule of whoever we choose to film, it will just have to take place sometime between regular business hours. Preferably late-afternoon around 4 or 5 pm. For all those interested, email with a link to your portfolio. This will be paid! Payment is negotiable.

Mobilize Student Advertising Competition - 22squared
Each year, 22squared hosts a competition called the 22squared Mobilize Student Advertising Competition to challenge college students to brainstorm an advertising solution for a non-profit organization over the course of one weekend. This competition is mutually beneficial for both students and the non-profit. The students get an exciting real-world chance to apply their knowledge. The competition will be held on February 8-10, 2019.

UNC Health Care Opportunity
UNC Health Care is looking for someone to create a couple of very simple training videos to use in its Lean Six Sigma classes for Operational Efficiency.  Students who have done this previously used these opportunities for school assignments or portfolio-builders. UNC Health Care is willing to facilitate this volunteer in participating in its LSS certification trainings, which would most definitely be an excellent resume asset.

Summer Internships - News & Observer and Herald Sun / Raleigh-Durham, NC
The summer internship program at The News & Observer and The Herald-Sun is now open for applications from college students.

Through the three-month paid program, students will gain practical education and professional experience while working closely with reporters, editors and visual journalists. Summer Internships - The Charlotte Observer / Charlotte, NC
The Charlotte Observer’s summer internships offer talented college journalists the opportunity to grow and develop in a metro newsroom that covers a vibrant, growing city.

Internships are paid and cover 10 weeks. A limited number of academic internships are also available. These students receive college credit or academic consideration. To be eligible, a candidate must provide written authorization they’ll receive credit or other academic consideration from their college.

Part-Time Graphic Designer - SA Communications / Cary, NC
SA Communications is looking for a part-time, on-site graphic designer to work in our creative, collaborative and collegial agency in Cary. We handle a variety of projects for clients in the public relations, marketing, events and publication industries. You could be designing business cards one day and a lifestyle magazine or trade journal the next. This job is 20 hours per week, but our business is growing and, for the right person, this could become a full-time position.
