Information Session - BrightHouse Consulting
Do you dream of doing creative work that has a real, positive impact on global society? BrightHouse is a global creative consultancy that helps clients find and articulate their “Purpose,” or reason for existence, beyond selling products to fulfilling higher order societal needs. Our creative department produces films, narratives, activation ideas, and communications materials to bring Purpose to life through eloquent and compelling storytelling. Some of our recent clients include P&G, Dr Pepper, Nestle, Delta, and Mercedes-Benz. This work requires a mind for creative storytelling, a heart for social impact, and a passport for global travel.

If that sounds like you, come talk with BrightHouse staff and former interns to learn more about what we do and our paid summer internships in writing, design, art direction, and film. The information session is on Wednesday, November 14 from 5-6pm in Carroll 33.

Meet the Pros: Bridget Harrington
Bridget Harrington is the Executive Director of Innovate Raleigh, an organization working to drive Raleigh into the top five innovation hubs in the country. Bridget has 15 years of experience in marketing and entrepreneurship, including co-founding her own marketing firm, Syndicate Media Group. Bridget has worked in New York City, San Francisco and Raleigh. 

Bridget will be hosting an information session in Carroll 141 on Friday, November 16, from 1:00-2:00pm. Students interested in careers in marketing or entrepreneurship, or those interested in working in San Fransisco or New York City should attend!

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Horizon Media Information Session
This is an opportunity for students interested in media/advertising careers to learn about Horizon Media first hand. You will also learn about our summer internship and entry-level opportunities. Sophomores - Seniors only. Open to all majors, interest in marketing, advertising, media, research and emerging technologies preferred.

The information session will be held in 239A/B Hanes Hall on Tuesday November 13 at 5:30pm. RSVP via Handshake.

Creative Boot Camp - McKinney and The One Club / Durham, NC
The Creative Boot Camp is an immersive 4-day workshop designed to provide aspiring creatives the opportunity to learn what it takes to be successful in the advertising industry. The boot camp will kick off with a welcome reception at McKinney so students can mix and mingle with the awesome professionals at the agency. Students are then given a creative brief and split into teams of 5 to begin brainstorming. On day two and three, mentors from McKinney will help shape the students ideas into a presentation. The final day culminates with students presenting to a panel of judges for the chance to win prizes! 
 
The Boot Camp will kick off on Tuesday, November 13th at 10:00 AM and wrap up around 4:00 PM on Friday, November 16th.  And it would be a great addition to any student’s resume.

Carolina Creates Funding Proposal Applications
Carolina Creates focuses on supporting UNC’s student organizations and projects in everything from the arts to technology and music. They primarily achieve this through allocation of funding for promising student proposals and strategic or marketing consulting. Innovate Carolina funds Carolina Creates to foster student organization growth and continue the excellent reputation of UNC’s campus involvement. They consist of a governing student board of directors and branching student-led communities.

Carolina Creates is trying to expand their network of applicants to reach all edges of UNC’s campus organizations. If you believe your organization could benefit from funding, strategy, or marketing, please apply through the online application here or at the link below.

Additionally, this fall, Carolina Creates is accepting applications for their board of directors and their communities. Creative and innovative students interested in giving back to the university should consider applying. Applications are due by November 25th at 11:59pm. UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
Communications Interns - The Stimson Center / Washington, D.C.
The Stimson Center is a non partisan think tank that specializes in trans-national security issues such as nuclear non proliferation, food security, environmental security, and protecting civilians in conflict. Stimson is seeking communications interns for Spring 2019.

Stimson offers unique internship opportunities based on the values of education, participation, and hands-on practical knowledge. Based on the Center's commitment to professional development, expectations for interns are high. In return, interns can expect a challenging environment that will prepare them for full-time employment in a professional setting. Interns will gain experience with nonprofit communications, as well as an opportunity to interact with all of Stimson's programs.

Spring Interns - Latin American News Digest
The Latin American News Digest is seeking qualified students for a limited number of internships for Spring 2019. Because the goal of the Digest is essentially a didactic one, to spread the word about news from Latin America, we feel strongly about providing the opportunity for students to participate in this process. Student writers and researchers contribute to our weekly issues by aggregating and writing summaries of news articles found in Latin American sources.

Interns will write 1000-1200 words per week (3-4 section articles or News in Brief items). Interns generally work approximately five-six hours per week with most of that work falling on Wednesdays and Thursdays since submissions are due on Fridays. This internship does not require onsite work. Interns work remotely, but need to be readily available via email, cell and Skype. Spring 2019 internships begin on January 4 and end in the first week of May, 2019. Interns are expected to be available during that time; however, consideration will be given to “breaks” in the schedule if they are arranged with sufficient prior notice. JOBS
Reflect America Fellowship - NPR / Washington, D.C.
This fellowship builds on five years of work to increase the diversity of NPR's sources. In 2013, the network began tracking the race/ethnicity, gender and geographic location of its news sources on its two largest shows, Morning Edition and All Things Considered. NPR found that its sources were overwhelmingly white, male and located on the east and west coasts. A 2016 study of digital sources found similar challenges. This fellowship will boost newsroom efforts to bring more voices into our journalism.

The fellowship is a series of three- to four-month rotations spent with various shows and coverage teams at NPR's headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Fellow will be embedded with producers, reporters, editors and other staff, working to find, vet and book a diversity of experts and everyday people for stories and interviews on the radio, online and in podcasts. The Fellow will also support the efforts of NPR and Member stations to build a public media workforce that reflects America.

Motion Graphics Designer - Wake Tech Community College / Raleigh, NC
Wake Tech Community College seeks a Motion Graphics Designer. This position will create original designs and develop dynamic infographics and infographic animations for a wide array of digital media. Working with a team of designers, photographers, and videographers, the position is tasked with producing designs for both digital and traditional print formats. This position will continuously seek and develop new concepts to elevate the Wake Tech Brand.
