Summer Gigs 2017

Hello everyone,

We have another busy summer to prepare for this year, with a number of different events and performances scheduled across a variety of different venues throughout the city.
First up, we are delighted to have been invited to participate for the second year running in the Glasgow Big Band Festival at the Royal Concert Hall, part of the Glasgow Jazz Festival 2017 official programme, on Saturday the 24th of June.

Our performance is scheduled for 3.45pm, but we recommend that you get there early to enjoy all the performances throughout the day from the other bands involved such as the Strathclyde Youth Jazz Orchestra, the East Dunbartonshire Schools' Jazz Orchestra, and the Zig Zag Big Band, amongst others.

The following evening, we'll be reuniting with Warren McIntyre for his gig at Cottiers Theatre on Sunday the 25th of June. Our horn section last joined him in 2015 for a memorable tribute to Nina Simone at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and at the Drygate. We're looking forward to teaming up with him again.

A large number of our big band regulars shall be performing with the platinum award-winning Glasgow Wind Band at two special concerts as part of the Glasgow West End Festival.

The first 'Heroes and Villains' gig will be the Family Concert on Saturday the 10th of June at 2.30pm in Hyndland Parish Church. Tickets £8 / £5, under-12s free.

The second is the full concert at the same venue on Monday the 19th of June. Tickets £10 / £6, under-12s free.

"Glasgow Wind Band plays music from the best heroic and villainous movies.

From the valiant Captain America, Superman and the Incredibles, to the monstrous Godzilla and the evils inside the Temple of Doom.

With an extra kid-friendly shortened concert on the Saturday afternoon we hope to see superheroes or villains arriving in costume ready to join in the action."

Finally, we'll be back at our regular venue St. Luke's on Thursday the 6th of July.

Entrance: £6/£5 concessions. Doors: 7pm. The gig is scheduled to start at around 8pm, finishing at approximately 10pm.

If you would like to reserve a table, you can do so by calling 0141 552 8378, or by e-mailing bookings@stlukesglasgow.com.

That's all for now!

Thank you all for your support,

JP Berrie
