We have a lot better chance at solving the challenges we face as a neighborhood if we band together to do so. That's why I'm so excited to update you on the growing support we have on our small business efforts. Now backed by two fantastic nearby neighborhood associations, Russian Hill Neighbors and Lower Polk Neighbors, our Small Business Roadmap outlines a way to get our commercial corridors thriving once again. And, citywide, others are taking notice, as you'll see in our recent feature in The San Francisco Business Times.

We'll keep you updated as we continue to make progress. Until then, I hope to see you soon in the neighborhood, be it at our weekly North Beach Farmers Market, our monthly Community Meeting, or our special night out at Beach Blanket Babylon.

Russian Hill Neighbors and Lower Polk Neighbors Back our Small Business Roadmap
We're thrilled to share that two fantastic neighborhood associations, Lower Polk Neighbors & Russian Hill Neighbors have endorsed our Small Business Roadmap, the set of 5 recommendations we recently shared to help small businesses thrive.

Their support indicates that our recommendations not only would be valuable to North Beach but to multiple commercial corridors in the Northeast corner of our city that are going through similar challenges and transitions. We thank each of them for their support.

San Francisco Business Times Covers our Small Business Roadmap
"Rising retail vacancy levels push neighborhoods to take matter into own hands"

We enjoyed speaking with San Francisco Business Times and sharing our efforts to advocate for small businesses in North Beach.

"North Beach Neighbors President Danny Sauter said that while most of the vacancy issues mirror national trends, another root cause is that North Beach puts restrictions on small businesses more than any other neighborhood in the city.

'There are some things in the planning code that have stood the test of time for our commercial district, but there are other things that are overdue for a change,' Sauter said."

Speaking in Support of Teatro ZinZanni - Arts & Open Space
We spoke in support of Teatro ZinZanni's plans for a new arts venue, public park, and hotel at the base of our neighborhood.

We're happy to share that the entire Planning Commission supported the project. We can't wait to welcome ZinZanni back!

View what our President, Danny Sauter, and Vice-President, Bruno Kanter, said in support.

Pitching in to Beautify Michelangelo Playground
We joined forces with Russian Hill Neighbors to beautify Michelangelo Playground. Thanks to all who came out to help touch things up at one of our neighborhood's best open spaces. Thank you to Laura Mancuso of our Open Spaces committee for planning.
