Recent Happenings
December was a busy month! The Algarve Senior Bikers visited the teenagers at the Gaivota Home in Albufeira to donate funds raised by the bikers at their Charity Christmas Lunch and previous rides, which was used to buy martial arts equipment. Santa visited the children of the Pirilampos to deliver wonderful and useful warm jackets and clothes for the winter. Many individuals donated clothes, chocolates, toys and Christmas presents. KISS FM also held an event to collect presents for the children under the tree. The Holiday Inn Algarve held their annual Swim for Shoes to raise money for children at the Gaivota to buy shoes. The children went to Lisbon during the Christmas break to visit the zoological gardens with support from the Amigos, and were treated to a cinema and dinner evening with their after school tutors.
Ongoing Support
The Amigos has purchased several pairs of glasses and paid for ongoing dental treatment for children of both homes. This support is always needed!

Please visit our website to find out how you can donate.
41 Clubs Jump In!
The Algarve 41 Club, Letchworth Garden City 41 Club and Letchworth Garden City Tangent Club have made generous donations to the Amigos recently and visited both homes. Thank you to all members for your support both locally and from the UK!
Xmas Fairs
The Amigos also participated in 3 Christmas fairs, selling cards made with the handprints of the children at Pirilampos to raise money for them. The Amigos received a very generous donation from the Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura (CIV), being one of the recipient charities of their Christmas fair. Thank you VIC!
Growing Strawberries
The children at the Pirilampos have created their own garden with instruction and help from volunteers, using raised beds to grow fruit and vegetables such as strawberries, lettuce, onions and more.

Marathons for the Children!
We are excited to announce that we have runners in both the London and Brighton Marathons this year with proceeds going to the Amigos. Alexander Kenney will be running the Brighton marathon on April 6 to raise money for both homes. Please read more and support Alex at this link. Elly Blanche, Peta´s sister, will be running the London Marathon on April 13 in memory of Peta, and to raise money for the Pirilampos home. Please read more and support Elly at this link
Horsey Workshops!
On March 3 and 5 we joined teams with ACCA (Amigo Do Cavalo - Clube Algarve) to host children from both homes in 1-day workshops to learn all about horses! This was in tandem with our partner project, ARC Horse Welfare. The children loved learning about horses and doing a walking gymkhana and treasure hunt, as well as grooming and bareback riding.

This month marks the first anniversary of Peta Birch´s passing. We know she would be overwhelmed with all the recent support shown to the children she cared so much about. With best wishes and thanks from all of the Birch family.
