Recent Happenings
In 2015 the Amigos helped the children and teenagers with their annual summer camps, as well as some special excursions that included a camping trip to Tavira, a trip to Isla Magica in Spain, and outings to Aquashow, Zoomarine, Krazy World and evening outings to the cinema. The Amigos also purchased school supplies for the new school year, computers, and continues to fund after school activities such as gym, swimming and hip hop classes.
Christmas 2015
The young children at the Pirilampos home received everything they asked for on their Christmas wish list in 2015, thanks to a few generous people that showed up with lots of presents including clothes, toys and new bicycles. The Amigos bought retail vouchers for the Gaivota teenagers so that they could choose their own gifts.
House Makeover
The Pirilampos has a new, more colourful look that the kids love thanks to donations to the Amigos. They were able to buy new furniture including sofas, bunkbeds, chests of drawers, shoe cabinets and more.
All Dressed Up
The Amigos supported the Pirilampos by buying outfits for all their special fancy dress events, such as carnival, school plays, and their annual Xmas party.
Swim for Shoes
There was another successful 'Swim for Shoes' event sponsored by the Holiday Inn Algarve at Armação de Pêra on Christmas day and New Years day, generating funds to buy shoes for the Gaivota teens. Thank you to the organisers and all that participated!
First Snow!
With help from the Amigos, 32 children and teenagers from both homes visited the Serra da Estrela mountains during their 2016 Easter holidays and experienced snow for the first time. Staying in the local youth hostel, hiking every day, and playing in the snow the group had an excellent time. The Amigos covered their accommodation and food costs.
Medical Help
The Amigos continues to provide glasses for children of both homes, as well as trips to the dentist. Support also continues towards private medical appointments where necessary.
