At COTS Youth we aim to be real in our faith, have fun, & meet each person where they are.
Every youth can belong.

Donuts -> Ramps -> Games

#1: Donut Day at the Sperls' + Ramp Building

Who:    Youth & friends in grades 9-12.

When:  THIS Sat, Nov 2, 9:00 am - estimated 4:00 pm.  It's okay if you can't make the whole thing.  You can come late or leave early if you need to. Call Curt to get directions before you leave to meet us..

Where:  Meet at the Sperls' for donuts (2958 Scarborough Rd, Cleveland Hts, OH 44118).
We will carpool to Ms Althea's (contact Curt for address) and to Cory UMC (1117 E 105th St Cleveland, OH 44108). We'll go to a fast food place for lunch. We'll drop you off when we're done.

What:    Experience the best community event around with the annual Sperl Donut Day.  Mr Sperl's famous donut machine cranks out many, many dozens of donuts every hour.  Open to the public and a GREAT mix of people.  After we've had our fill, we'll divide and conquer, with some of us going to Ms. Althea's to finish her ramp, and others to Cory UMC to repair their main ramp.

Lunch:  We'll pause for lunch and buy the crew lunch.

What to wear:  Dress to be outdoors for several hours. Lots of layers.  Appropriate would be 3-5 layers on top and 2+ layers on the bottom. Winter/snow pants is a great idea. (If get dressed and you think you might get cold, you should add more layers.) The work site is muddy so waterproof boots are a GREAT idea. Hat & gloves are a must. Bring a change of shoes for the car.

Why:     Serving others in the name of Jesus is great for others, and super fulfilling for us.  This is Acting Justly, Loving Mercy, and Walking Humbly with God.

#2: Night Games at COTS

   When:  THIS Sat, Nov 2, 7:30 - 9:30 pm

Where:   Meet & pick up in the Sr Youth Room 207 at the church.

What:    Our youth leadership team, aka the "Goon Squad", is putting together a couple of hours of fun games at the church.  Hide & Seek.  Invasion.  Sardines.  Our church is a GREAT venue for stuff like this.

Why:     It's good just to get together and play sometimes. Bring a friend!

Something to Think About...

Just ONE thing.  Life is pretty darn complex - it can feel like we're being pulled in so many directions.  Sometimes it's refreshing to have just one thing to think about.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
---Micah 6:8 (NIV)

There are 31,120 verses in the Bible.  Some of them are really good at summing things up.  This is one of them.  This year, the mission trip, our retreats, our youth group devotions, the ministry focus of our church - it's all centered around Micah 6:8 - and it's pretty darn good at summing up the best way to move through life.  Do you have an idea or saying or scripture verse that is your catch-all for how to approach things?  Take a minute to talk with God about what anchors you.
