Something to Think About...

Sometimes I forget the basics. Like my mower will need gas before I can mow.  My kids can't drive themselves anywhere yet.  Eat the veggies before the dessert (although that's just a rough guideline).

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
---Micah 6:8 (NIV)

This sounds ridiculous even as I type it, but I often forget that I'm not God. Not in the sense that I think I can make happen whatever I want to happen like some sort of genie - but that I can't control every outcome.  That my perspective is really pretty limited.  That I don't have to manage and worry about every situation.  That however much I may care, God cares more.  What if that little "O mortal" is dropped in there as a reminder that God is God and I'm not?  Maybe that's a good starting place for the rest of the verse.

Take a minute to talk with God about where you might be trying to exert control when it's kind of beyond your control. What's got you wound up where a broader perspective might change things?  What if we can trust God with all of it?
