At COTS Youth we aim to be real in our faith, have fun, & meet each person where they are.
Every youth can belong.
Hi, <<First Name>>!

Level your highway II!
Black History - Games

Who:   You and your friends in grades 6-8.

   When:  Friday, March 19, 7:00 - 8:00 pm
What:   Continuing last week, Everybody's a civil engineer.  We can level mountains & fill in valleys!  It's Lent and Easter is coming.  How can we best get ready for the Savior of the world to enter our personal world?  And our youth will share about some notable women of Black history.  And some St. Patty's Day games, too.  Games are fun.

Why:   Some events, activities, and adventures are important - to us and others. Getting ready for them is important, too.  There's a lot we can do!  And...Jesus followers are called to Love God and Love Others as we Love Ourselves.  Sometimes that requires a little preparation.

Serving Others:
Easter Egg Hunt for the Kids!

We will do this rather than our Friday night gathering next week.

Who:   You and your friends in grades 6-12.

   When:  Saturday, March 27, 9:00 - 11:30 am
               (Rain Date, April 3)

How:   Sign up HERE by March 22.  Wear your mask and a smile under it.  Stay 6' apart.  Dress to be outside the whole time. COTS Child/Youth Registration is REQUIRED if you haven't done it yet, this school year.
What:   Remember hunting for eggs when you were younger?  Now's OUR chance to do the hiding.  If you haven't prepped a hunt before, it's pretty fun imagining the joy of success in finding your well-hidden egg.  We'll be hiding eggs, helping run the hunt, and re-hiding.  Hot chocolate provided for all youth volunteers!

Why:   You would totally be loving others, just like what Jesus said is most important.  Your personalities and gifts and love of Jesus will leave these kids wanting more!

Where:  IN PERSON, on the front lawn of the church.

In Person!

Something to Think About...

What's the last thing you did that you really had to work for?  An important game?  A concert or recital?  Maybe a project at school?  What did you do to get ready for all the practices and rehearsals and group meetings and personal training and work?  Did you have to make some decisions about how you spent your time and energy?

A voice is crying out:
“Clear the Lord’s way in the desert!
Make a level highway in the wilderness for our God!
Every valley will be raised up,
and every mountain and hill will be flattened.

    Uneven ground will become level,
and rough terrain a valley plain.
The Lord’s glory will appear,
    and all humanity will see it together;
the Lord’s mouth has commanded it.”

--- Isaiah 40:3-5 (CEB)

Lent is 40 days, plus Sundays. It's not forever. But it's not a moment, either.  What if it's long enough to slow down and look at our lives - to think about what we spend our time and money and energy on?  Take a minute to talk with God about the hills and valleys that are slowing down your ability to fully experience the full, rich life we can have through Jesus. Which are out of your control?  Which ones could you level or raise up?  Consider getting out a shovel and leveling the highway between you and the resurrected Jesus.
