At COTS Youth we aim to be real in our faith, have fun, & meet each person where they are.
Every youth can belong.
Dear <<First Name>>,
COVID Update:  We may see some changes in the near future.  For now, we aren't going to be meeting indoors just yet, but as long as weather permits we will meet every other week for Lunch & Connect outside at the church.  Be sure to wear your mask and keep 6' distancing.  If you're not feeling well, get rested up and join us next time.

Youth Annual Conference 2021

REGISTER BY May 27 to get your Party Box!

Who:   You and your friends in grades 6-12.

   When:  Saturday, June 12, 1:00 - 3:00 pm
What:   Affectionately referred to as YAC, this large gathering (several hundred!) of youth is designed by youth to reach out to youth who desire to grow in their relationship with God and their youth group while understanding what it means to be a leader in our connectional United Methodist movement.

Experienced live, this interactive event will include the worship band, goofy fun stuff, time with Shane Claiborne, discussion, live chat, breakouts, polls, a prayer room, and more.

Who is Shane?  "Shane is a prominent speaker, activist, and best-selling author. Shane worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, and founded The Simple Way in Philadelphia. He heads up Red Letter Christians, a movement of folks who are committed to living 'as if Jesus meant the things he said'. Shane is a champion for grace which has led him to jail advocating for the homeless, and to places like Iraq and Afghanistan to stand against war. Now grace fuels his passion to end the death penalty and help stop gun violence."

Why: It's not only fun to be together, it's also a time for personal growth and reflection, a time to learn, a time for worship.

How: Outdoors at the church.  We'll participate through a big ole TV, but the experience is best if you also have your own device - phone, tablet, laptop, etc - for interacting and polling.
YAC Party Boxes: If you register by 5/27, you'll get a t-shirt, lanyard, and other goodies!
   What to bring:
Your digital device (phone, tablet, etc) and a chair if you prefer comfy seating.

Cost:  $10.  Please let Curt know if you need assistance - it is always available.

Youth Mission Trip 2021 is a GO.

July 10-16, 2021

There are many details to work out, but here's what we know:
   It will be in Cleveland.
   COTS will be HQ.
We will sleep in our homes.

The COTS Youth Mission Trip is about loving God and loving our neighbor - putting our faith into action - and is for youth entering grades 8 and up, including high school grads and adult leaders.

The experience will be different than other years, and in many ways it will be the same.  There's a lot of potential to do new, great things that aren't possible in other years.
One thing is certain - God will move in us and through us!

Something to Think About...

Have you ever faced a decision on whether to do good, but it was a little bit scary or difficult?  You knew what the right or good thing to do was, but you were feeling a strong dose of I-don’t-wanna?  Some possible examples: talking to a person who has no home, saying something good about God or Jesus in your friend circle, giving away money you’ve been saving up, talking kindly to your siblings, finding joy in less-than-ideal situations (covid, anyone?)

"Rather, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
--- Acts 1:8 (CEB)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against things like this.
--- Galatians 5:22-23 (CEB)

Some tools run on electricity.  Some run on air.  Some people run on their own power.  We ALL can run on the Holy Spirit's power.  Take a minute to talk with God about how you interact with the world.  Are you doing it on your own?  If you are, ask God for Spirit power.  You'll get it.  And it's good.
