At COTS Youth we aim to be real in our faith, have fun, & meet each person where they are.
Every youth can belong.

Ice Skating!

Who:    Youth grades 6-8 and friends.

Parents: Can you join us?  We'll probably need a couple of drivers.  Please let Curt know.

What to wear:  Definitely bring gloves/mittens.  Layers are good.  You're skating in a refrigerator, so it's cold -  but you'll generate some heat.

   When:  TODAY, Friday, Jan 10, 7:00 - 9:15 pm

What:   It's open skate at the Cleveland Heights Rec Center.  Bring a friend!

Where:   Meet and pick up in the Jr Youth Room 097 at the church (down the stairs just inside the car port entrance).  We will carpool to the Cleveland Heights Recreation Center at 1 Monticello Blvd, Clev Hts, OH 44118.

Why:    Skating is fun - a challenge for many of us, but fun!  They've got "walkers" for support until you get your ice legs.

Cost:   $5 and includes skate rental (assistance is readily available, just talk to Curt).

What's Coming Up?

Hide & Seek at COTS

Friday, Jan 17, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
The first in-church hide and seek of the year!  COTS was built in the 1920s, 1950s, and 2000s.  It's big, and a bit creepy at night.  Bring your friends and join the fun.

Indoor 9-Square in the Air & Great Hall Dodgeball

Friday, Jan 24, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Moving in the Great Hall.  Bring your friends.

Souper Bowl of Caring

Sunday, Feb 2, before and after the 8:30, 9:30, 11:00 am worship services
A nationwide youth-led battle against hunger.  100% goes to local food centers.  We collect money and canned goods at the door as folks enter and leave worship.

Chili Cookoff & Big Game Watch Party

Sunday, Feb 2, 6:00 pm - End of Game
Hot competition for the best chili - which, ironically, is rarely spicy.  Bring a side or dessert to share or enter a chili of your own!  This is for the whole family.  Leave when you need to - many leave after the chili winners are announced after half-time.

Something to Think About...

It’s Day 10. How are those New Year’s plans/intentions/goals/habits/resolutions going?  Solid?  Mess them all up?  Mixed?  Did you make any plans that relate to how you relate?  Like with other people or yourself or God?  Or how you care for them?

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
---Micah 6:8 (NIV)

What about when we slip up?  (It IS ice skating week, after all.)  Or when we flat-out do wrong?  Do you tend to beat yourself up?  Do you imagine God is displeased?  Or that surely God likes you a little less now?

So now there isn’t any condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
---Romans 8:1 (CEB)

Take a minute to talk with God about when you've slipped up.  How do you feel about it?  What if you didn't have to carry that weight or guilt?  Here's some Good News: seek God's forgiveness, and because of what Jesus did and does for you and me and everyone else, it's yours.
