Pradeep Nair Joins Alliance to Direct Public Sector Performance, Impact, and Innovation Program

Pradeep Nair joined the Volcker Alliance in August as Director of the Performance, Impact, and Innovation Program. Pradeep will direct the Alliance’s efforts to catalyze more effective, sustainable, and accountable solutions to public policy challenges and to bridge the divide between government and the people it serves.

The Performance, Impact, and Innovation Program will strengthen government’s capacity to use outcome-focused goal setting, performance and evidence-based management, and transparency to improve outcomes, return on spending, and people’s experience with government.

Pradeep joins us from the Institute for Sustainable Communities, where he helped start the group’s India operations and grow their global urban development programs. Prior to that, as a director with the Clinton Foundation, Pradeep expanded several international development programs through partnerships with the public and private sector and helped establish the C40 Cities Climate Leadership group in the South Asia region. He spent the early part of his career in Silicon Valley as a strategy consultant with Deloitte. Pradeep is a regular panelist and speaker on international development issues due to his unique mix of work with government leaders, corporate heads, foundations, and development agencies including the United States Agency for International Development, the Asian Development Bank, and the World Bank.

An engineer and business manager by training, he has worked and lived in North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Ravitch Fiscal Reporting Program Off to Fast Start
The Volcker Alliance family was very much in evidence as CUNY’s Graduate School of Journalism launched the Ravitch Fiscal Reporting Program with 11 statehouse and local-government reporters from across the U.S. spending a week exploring the nuances of budgeting, the municipal bond market and tax policy. Alliance Board member Richard Ravitch, who funded the program, mingled with the Fellows over dinner, and Alliance President Shelley Metzenbaum and State & Local Program Director Bill Glasgall taught for most of a day, Shelley on how to best report on budget outcomes and Bill on ferreting out useful information in municipal bond disclosure documents. The program, said one of the Fellows, was the best week of journalism I’ve had in a long time, and perhaps ever.” The next class is scheduled for January.
