Rugs went missing from her brand new adoptive home Saturday night. The last 2 days, we have flooded the neighborhood with flyers, searched miles and miles, shared through social media, and more.
Yesterday afternoon, a miracle occurred! Workers with CenterPoint Energy were on a job in an adjoining neighborhood, when they noticed Rugs in the front yard of one of the homes. They recognized her from flyers they had seen earlier in the day, went back and got the phone number off the flyer, and called us!
Several of us rushed over to the site, and from a distance we could see Rugs lying under a bush near the front of the house. She was petrified, and we knew if we approached, she could easily run off. Our only hope at this time was Rugs' foster mom, who had cared for her during the 3 months of her leg surgery and rehab. The foster mom lives 45 minutes away, so we waited anxiously for her to arrive, while keeping watch on Rugs.
We held our breath as foster mom entered the yard. Rugs immediately began to run toward the street, but upon hearing her foster mom's sweet voice, she stopped, and slowly started to walk towards her. About half way through the yard, she fully recognized her foster mom, and ran full speed into her arms! It was an emotional reunion! We all shed many tears of joy and relief!
A quick trip to the vet revealed Rugs was dehydrated and hungry and tired, but otherwise okay! We thank everyone for their time, thoughts, and prayers to help bring our little Rugs safely back home!! ♥
