There are just no words to describe the pain that Pete has endured at the hands of humans. Pete was turned into BARC (the Houston shelter) by his owners in this condition... very near death.
Pete is horribly emaciated with a life-threatening skin infection, bleeding wounds all over his body, hookworms, anemia, conjunctivitis, and more. Pete smelled of motor oil when turned in, and it is suspected that his owner's practiced the barbaric act of using motor oil to supposedly cure mange, and almost killed Pete. The pictures are hard to look at, and seeing Pete in person will definitely make you cry. Red Collar Rescue and Sav-a-Pet have joined forces on behalf of Pete.
We are doing all we can to bring comfort to Pete and help him recover, including a blood transfusion, IV fluids, antibiotics, pain meds, surgical scrub baths, and more. We pray his body is strong enough to fight off the sepsis. Your thoughts, prayers and support are greatly appreciated. We are hoping that animal cruelty charges will be brought against Pete's prior owners.
