We are extremely saddened and heartbroken...our beloved Bodhi crossed the rainbow bridge late Monday night.

Peritonitis is unfortunately a cruel disease that can be very unpredictable, even to the best of vets.

While over the weekend Bodhi appeared to be doing better, he unexpectedly took a turn for the worse around midnight on Sunday.  He spiked a high fever and a large amount of fluid was again found in his abdomen.  After another extensive battery of tests, Bodhi's team of vets initially felt that the best course of action was to take Bodhi back to surgery to look for another leak and/or gangrened intestines that can occur commonly with Peritonitis.  However, this is a very risky surgery and further complicated by Bodhi's compromised heart condition.

As Bodhi was being prepped for surgery, his vital signs acutely deteriorated to a point where his team of doctors including cardiologist, surgeon, critical care doctor, and primary doctor, felt that Bodhi would not survive the anesthesia, let alone the surgery and after care.   Despite all of our efforts, his body had finally given out.  He was no longer able to continue fighting.   Bodhi peacefully left this world, surrounded by the love of his RCR foster family and friends.

We were deeply moved, and will be forever grateful for the huge outpouring of thoughts, prayers, and support for Bodhi.   He touched many lives in a very special way, even those whom he never met.

Run free sweet will be forever in our hearts...till we meet again one day.
Bodhi's medical bills were over $13,000.  If you would like to make a donation in his memory, they can be made at: i-781737,  or thru our website at ions.html, or donations can be mailed to Red Collar Rescue, 945 McKinney Street, #424, Houston, TX  77002.

With heartfelt thanks,
