Filter Photo is pleased to announce its 4th annual juried exhibition Mapping: borders, bodies, memories, which will run September 19th-October 6th, 2013. The opening reception will be held September 26th, 2013 from 6:30pm-9pm during the 2013 Filter Photo Festival. The exhibition will be held at David Weinberg Photography located in Chicago's River North gallery district.
Mapping: borders, bodies, memories was juried by Paula Tognarelli, Executive Director and Curator, Griffin Museum of Photography. She selected the following 40 artists from over 300 entrants from all over the world.
The theme of the exhibition is mapping, and each of the artists uniquely represents the interconnection between places and people, both real and imagined. The photographs in the exhibition illustrate spatial relationships between object and viewer, between here and there, or between now and past events.
A Juror's Prize and Honorable Mention will be awarded by the juror. The winner of the Juror's Prize will be given a solo show at the Griffin Museum. David Weinberg Photography will also award a Gallery Prize.

Please come and join us in celebrating the opening reception on Sept 18th, 2013 from 6:30 til 9:00 pm, at David Weinberg Photography, 300 W. Superior St., Suite 203, Chicago, Illinois 60654.

About Filter Photo & the 2013 Festival
Filter Photo is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and support of Chicago's photographic community. Filter's mission is twofold: first, to connect emerging, mid-level, and professional photographers with gallerists, educators, academics, curators, publishers and other elite photography professionals from across the country, with an emphasis on those of the Midwest, and in particular those of Chicago; and second, to secure Chicago as a vibrant center and destination for the national and international photography community, in part by uniting the city's different groups and institutions. Since 2009, Filter Photo has offered educational, networking, and development oriented programming throughout the year, and operated the annual Filter Photography Festival.
The 2013 Festival marks Filter's five year anniversary. This year's Festival will last for five days and includes a variety of programming, much of it free and open to the public, including speaking events, workshops, exhibition receptions, book signings, portfolio reviews, a portfolio walk, and more. For complete details of the Festival, please visit Filter website or view the 2013 Festival Program.
